Followers are killable by NPCs if they arent essential.

Do you mean is there a mod that can make essential followers, non essential?

no they are not killable they just kneel and then the enemy ignores them istead of killing my follower they just wait for him to get up so they can beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of him again and again or just attack me instead

The reason that some NPCs kneel when they take damage, is because the game marks them as essential (due the fact that they are needed for certain quests in the game). If you use a mod that makes all essential NPCs killable, you risk the chance of not only breaking some quests, but also of breaking the game itself.

All followers go down on one knee when close to death, even the non essential, only way they will die is if they get hit by you accidently when on one knee if they are not essential.

Enemies will never outright kill your followers.

As Willow said...

ALL followers take a knee at low HP, when they do enemies see them as a non threat and move on to you.

This greatly helps keep them alive.

However IF while on their knee something else damages them...spells, poisons, traps, missed arrows...they can die if they take enough damage to finish them.

The only exception is essential followers, they take a knee as well but will never die.

yeah this is why i was lookin for a mod to make non essencial npcs killable by others kinda like in oblivion

yeah this is why i was lookin for a mod to make non essencial npcs killable by others kinda like in oblivion

Well again they are killable by others...I'm not saying on their knee you have to kill them...I am saying you can walk out of a room you follower is fighting in, and walk back in after the fight is over and find them dead.

What you are asking for is that they dont take a knee and instead fight to the death, right?

i dont mind if they knee but i want them to finish him off instead of just ignoring him and attacking me or waiting for him to get up again so yeah i want them to fight to the death

You'd be going through followers like mad.

Quite a few are simply garbage, and they are all completely crazy, so they are going to constantly be getting you killed or themselves.

For that to work, which I agree would be nice, the AI would have to be much better...and you'd need them to run away.

Seems you'd need to switch their AI package to cowardly once their HP hit a certain point, or something along that line.

Mytheos, don't forget that there are three stages of npc... killability. Fully killable, protected, and essential.
Essential npcs never die.
Protected npcs (which involves quite a few followers[en.uesp.net]) can only die by the player's hand.

If you want to remove the protections from a follower, its easy to make a mod to do it, you cant really remove that from every NPC or you will break your game.

@gunsaremagic: Late addition. Forget AFT EFF FLP and so on. Doesent work.There is only one mod I know of that will do the trick. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/71998/? Dunno if it will work with SE though. However there is a problem since health-regen is dependent on "essential" or "protected" flags. Any NPC without such protection will not recover from health-loss (like enemy NPCs for example). So, you can use this mod, but you will need another mod like "NPCs using potions" or a healer-companion. FLP (not recommending that) has a healing-hands-option for followers. There are many things you can do. But as far as i know, there isnt a mod that makes them killable AND regain their health automatically. But at least this one takes care of judging who should keep their protected or essential status, so quests dont break. So this mod will not include followers like Serana. But if you use it, all followers including almost all custom mod-followers without quest-protection will be killed. Keep in mind that you have to rerun the patch each time you add a new mod-follower to the game.

PS Also keep in mind that without protected and essential status, your followers wont get a second chance by "going down". Again, you can mod a way around that problem as well. But without any other mods, your companions will basically commit suicide all the time.
