(For example, Rumarin from the Interesting NPCs mod and Vilja both have 'on Solstheim' type patches, which allow them to comment on some Solstheim stuff. Vilja also has a workaround for her to 'recognise' Serana by introducing them through Vilja's dialogue, but she has very limited interaction even then, and that's the extent of Vilja's recognition of Dawnguard stuff, other than I think she comments if you're a vampire.)
There is a Solstheim add on for Vilja as that is where she's from if IRC. But you are correct in regards to her and Serana. Now you want a good pairing is Inigo and Vilja where the authors of both mods have made it so the two of them can converse about various things with one another. And there is fun times to be had when playing the two together.
Yes, that's what I said, she has an 'on Solstheim' patch/add-on. My point is, without that patch, she can only "see" base-game locations, quests, etc. because Emma and cdcooley have always been quite clear on not introducing dependencies to her either in Oblivion or Skyrim, not even OBSE/SKSE. I think they managed to get her to make a few very basic comments in the Shivering Isles, but that's about it.
You can "introduce her" to certain DLC and mod-added followers and she will have varying amounts of conversations with them (I believe she tries to talk to Serana who just ignores her, but she doesn't much like having a vampire around anyway) but as I understand it, that's handled through Vilja's own files - Inigo can't "see" Vilja and she can't "see" Inigo, but after you introduce them, Vilja can "see" Inigo enough to know when the NPC you introduced as Inigo is around and have conversations with him. (I've never actually tested it, but I'd imagine it might be possible to introduce another NPC to her as "Inigo" and they'd still have the same conversations, probably not a good idea, though, might cause bugs.)
In theory, a mod author could make a follower who comments on DLC locations, mod-added new lands and quests, etc, but they'd have to either use patches or require the DLC/mod as a master file, and it would potentially be a lot of work, and as far as I know Sofia does not have Dragonborn or Dawnguard as required files, so I presume she doesn't have any dialogue relating to them.
Rumarin is, I believe, the only Interesting NPC who has a patch for Dragonborn, and it's a/ very basic and b/ fan-made (with voice work by the original VA, of course). You can suggest a trip to Solstheim and he'll answer, and I think he has a few comments on that one place with the spider scrolls, and maybe a couple of points in the Dragonborn Main Quest, but that's about it. Still cool, though :)
Yeah, Interesting NPCs is still Oldrim only, I think they tried to port it but it didn't work out (something to do with the CK crashing whenever the mod author tried to load it up?)
Might have to go back and play oldrim as I still have that one locked and loaded on the PC with MO for the mods.Besides there are some mods I liked in Oldrim that I don't have in Se for various reasons. Like lack of Skyse and Skyui.
