I reckon a HUGE difference between this game and real is that your not holding a real golfclub.
For me I could start getting used to completely weightless clubs, I can imagine for someone used to real golf that can be harder. Still of cousre, it will always be just a computergame.
I can manipulate my swing by flicking my wrists through impact to get an average speed of 85mph but it feels really bad with no follow through on my swing. This is how I hit my woods in this game to at least make it playable for me.
Iron play for me is the reaI immersion breaker for me. Yardages are piss poor with all my irons, tho I managed to hit a 3 iron 208yds and thought what did I do there that I don't already do.
I think the short game from 30/40 yards in is great.
I made a modded controller I seen on here. Using the grip from a real club with the touch controller attached but still no weight compared to a real club and didn't help at all. I quickly gave up on that idea.
If this game had the driver and iron play from everyday golf vr it would be perfect for me.
Swing speed is measured from the club head in game, not the hands. I average a swing speed around 102mph with the Driver, 250'ish yard drives. The only suggestion I really have for slower swing speeds is to make sure you're playing on Casual difficulty. This offers a swing power curve that will make the long game more enjoyable.
Alternatively, low framerates are akin to slow swing speeds. I would suggest tinkering with your quality settings, make sure there aren't other programs chewing up resources in the background, etc. Our 2sqkm environments can be a bit taxing on lower spec machines (not sure of your specs).
Lastly, you might want to try a rearrange of your setup. Usually swing descrepencies due to loss of tracking or tracking issues result in faster swing speeds, but there could be something interfering with your tracking setup.
Cheers!
I am playing via a rift and 2 sensors which I have arranged at various angles/heights but with no difference. I have tried all possible settings in game from beginner upwards, graphic settings lowest (no msaa etc) to highest. My space is over 2 sqm and I am gaming on a i7 4790 r9 290x which is minimum for vr but I achieve 90fps on lowest settings in this game.
I searched on here, and there are a couple of similar threads discribing the same problem and they happen to be using the rift as well.
I have tried Everyday Golf VR and have no trouble with swing speed with it. I know this won't be fixed as development for this game is finished. Like the other users with this problem I'll give up on this game but if I ever get hold of a Vive, I will report back with my findings.
It's NOTHING like real golf. Treat it like a game, for a bit of a laugh, and just enjoy it for what it is. I can swing leisurely with one hand at the ball with my driver and it goes just as far as when I get all "serious" about it. So yeah, the realism is highly questionable.
It's a video game. Get some mates round, Hurl abuse at each other. Don't stress. Have fun.
