Tips, Tricks, and Hints

Once we collect a bunch, I'll organize them and publish it as a guide. Feel free to add your own TT&H's below!

Just to get you guys started:

1) Play on Gold Server for the most fair new player experience! Gold is a brand new server, just for you!

2) Join a corporation as soon as you can. Once you reach level 0.5 you'll start getting invites. You can always :leave if it doesn't suit you.

3) Be social! Use Chat to ask questions in your Corporation. Server Chat becomes unlocked when you reach level 2.

4) The ? Button in the Chat menu lists all the Chat Commands.

5) Don't play Spaceball and plan to make money from it.

6) From levels 0-15 you can hunt in gray sectors without fear of being PVPd. You also get free ship upgrades every few levels, so save your credits!

7) Upon reaching level 15, new accounts get a 1% common Stealth Drive. These engines are very powerful and useful, but fragile. Don't accidentally sell it!

8) Ships under level 5 auto-repair. Once you reach level 5, you will need to use Metal resources to repair your ship. Click-and-hold to repair your ship.

10) New players are not in any danger in gray sectors. Try to find a fast weapon and high-ranked (large) common weapon. You don't need to worry about being killed by NPCs while hunting in gray sectors, so you don't need armor. Check StarPort inventories for really cheap gear upgrades.

11) Each ship in TIB has a fixed number of Equip Points (EP) available for use. Every time a player equips an item to their ship the number of EP displayed on the attached item subtracts from the total available EP on the ship. For example: If a player has a ship with 6 available EP and then attached a weapon item with a size of 2 EP, the ship's available EP would drop to 4.

Once you reach level 15 you are ♥♥♥♥♥♥, no more metal drops for repairing. You are forced to gravitate around spaceports to afford repairs. You probably have no equipment worth anything, because the game is empty and even Corps with level 200+ players can't be bothered keeping level 15 equipment and you're just forced ... to pay to win or beg the server until everyone ignores you.

Seriously I expected a list of tips that would make the experience of playing TiB bare-able after a few hours, but this game is just plain trash IMHO...

Ever thought of pulling the plug?
