Cossacks2 caused an assertion error!!!

My Laptop is:

Windows 8
Processor - Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-3230 M CPU @ 2.60 GHz 2.60GHz
System Type - 64 - Bit operating system, x64 - Based processor

Just bought the Cossacks2: Battle for Europe. Instaled it but to no luck it keeps getting an error. Tried several ways to address the problem but to no avail.

Problem is:

Cossacks2 caused an assertion error!!!
File: kLog.cpp
Expression: The graphics mode is not supported.

This is exactly what shows on my computer every time i try to launch the game. What i dont understand is that how can i get this kind of error about the graphics mode when in fact DOTA 2 requires higher graphics but works great.

Would really appreciate any suggestions, much more a solution to my problem. Thank you!

-properties
-browse local files
-right clic engine.exe
-properties
-compatibility
-run compatibility troubleshooter

-test & save & enjoy

Problem: Assertion Error Graphics mode not supported. Happens before game opens properly.
Fix: Lower you MAIN PC resolution to 1280x720.

Yes it should do. The campaign and main menu screens are not compatible with modern resolutions. The game fails to temperarily change the resolution when opening. All you have to do is right click and then click screen resolution

same here, are you still able to play the game? If you wish to play multiplayer with someone use a program such as gameranger or tunngle

Hey, I had the same issue and fixed it and I have windows 8. Go to your program files with the game in it, look for a file called engine, which is actually the game launcher. Then right click properties and change the compatibility to windows 95, and it should work :) Good luck!

I had the same issue, so I changed compatibility to windows 95 and worked. But as soon as loading screen has finished loading, it says: "You have changed game data. Internet game will not be possible." and simply exits the game. How can this be fixed?
Ps. I got Windows 10

This game is SOO POORLY MADE either in terms of programming OR interms of instructing customers how to make it compatible to any PC..
