Does this game works on Windows 7?

Im confussed i have searched in a lot of forums and people say this game doest work on windows 7, but someone say the version of steam works fine, so thats my question. Its cheap but still i dont want to throw 5dlls to the garbage.

Yeah, it does work on Windows 7. I personally play Cossack's II on Windows 7, no problems what so ever.

Yes, Cossacks2 works on windows 7 even on x64 version, but only STEAM version.

Unfortunately, you may have some glitches with video mode, in case you have 2 monitors , and also video mode of this old game is not-native for 99% LCD monitors... But this is the only way to play Cossacks2 on Windows7.
Of course, you can install Windows XP to virtual pc, for example into VMWARE in your windows 7 system. And it works. But in the mass scenes during the game, when too many units are on the screen, the game became too slowly, so VMWARE is useful as a last resort...

Well im on windows 7 and it still does not work. Theres a ton of others that still has this prob.

I have an ordinary PC with Windows7 x64 . Videocard is ATI HD5450. I bought the steam version of the game here and have no problems with running it. No patches or something similar were used. If you can't play, I think, the only way to play for you - to play Cossacks under VMWARE.
On my PC all traditional CD-versions of COSSACKS 2 (napoleonic wars and battle for europe) doesn't work, but the STEAM version work WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS.

P.S. But I also have a Samsung NF110 Netbook with windows 7 installed (all drivers and directx are properly installed), it has a discrete videocard on Intel GMA3150 chip, and on this system, neither Standard CD version of Cossacks 2, nor the Steam version of Cossacks 2 doesn't start, unfortunately. (And many other modern games also doesn,t work on this) So the type of your videocard is also very important.

Yeah, I found some info on Official forum of this game manufacturer http://www.gsc-game.ru/index.php?t=community&s=forums&s_game_type=cs2&thm_page=1&thm_id=767&sec_id=5&offset=-240 They wrote, that the game cannot run on Intel or SiS/VIA integrated video chipset.

i have two computers with this game on, both windows 7,

computer 1 - 64bit , = works perfect
computer 2 - 32 bit = some games dont open and when they do open they will close after a few seconds.
