Can't run on wondows 10

Hi all. Cossacks 2: battle for europe was running okay when i had windows 7 now i have upgraded to windows 10 it will not launch :( anybody have any suggestions?

the game runs only on integrated intel graphics and not on my nvidia gpu. even though i set it in the nvidia control panel to only unse the gpu

How did you get to know the game is running on iGPU? It is always uses default graphics card. So, basically, it uses what Windows offers.

Already found. It is shown in task manager - GPU tabs.
What I've just found - nVidia Optimus does not support legacy games which utilizes Direct3D8 API :(
I'll take a look if it is possible to easily switch to D3D9.

I also experience the problem that Cossacks 2 runs with 8 frames per second on my I5-4770S. It seems there is no fix? Already tried what's posted in this thread.

you need to open direct play from legacy components on programs and features

Hi, i've got the old cd version and i've tryied all : it still doesn't work.
Is there a way out to fix it without buying the game again?

What is exactly your problem? Does it even start the game?
Have you installed the newest Patch?

# Extract D3Dengine.dll & startengine.exe from c2-hoae-3d-patch.zip to Cossacks2-Folder\Data

"VirtualAlloc heap reserve failed" I fixed by:

- Restarting PC.
- Increased the minimum/maximum paging/virtual memory.
- Set compat to XP pack 3.
- Do not launch through steam, go to the directory and set a shortcut to your desktop.

Hope this helps someone.
