Would'nt be great a Cossacks 2 Remake/Sequel?
I love the cossacks series, specially cossacks 2 and American Conquest. It would be great to see a remake/sequel of any of these games.

Cossacks 2 is a great game, one of the most original RTS I've ever seen, but the number of bugs and the terrible support on new plattaforms make the difficult to enjoy these days.

In my opinion, I would like to see:
- A fully remake in terms of graphics.
- Add more and bigger maps, specially 8 players map.
- Add a better multiplayer support.
- Add more factions.
- Add more mechanics to the BFE mode, to look more like a total war (Medieval total war for example)
- Better AI
- Introduce more upgrades

As I said befere, this is my favourite game from the series, and I think that a proper remake MUST be done.

So, what do you think?

Gameplay suggestions
- Conserve all the ideas that make this game unique:
- Morale and fatigue system
- Roads
- Formation system
- Village system
- What can be improved:
- Untis position ( by palesz27): Avoid putting units in the same position. Maybe a better collision system.
- Problems when placing buildings (by palesz27): Sometimes it makes difficult to find a place to build, due to the map disposal and the size of the buildings. Maybe some kind of improve would be to allow building rotation.
- Handling bigger population (by palesz27): Maybe tuning the game engine.
- AI: Improve AI so playing with no human player could be a real challenge.
- Village system: Allow villages to be military upgraded (more and better garrison, defensive buildings).
- Diplomatic options: Maybe a simple diplomatic menu, so players could make peace, war, alliances, resource transferring, etc
- Naval battles: Add this as an optional feature on sea maps. It would add (Sloop, Frigate, Ship of the line, Fishing boat, Transport ship, Bomb ketch)
- Add generals: Some kind of limited unit that can boost the soldiers stats (morale, defense, etc)

Game mode suggestions
- More customization options: Add more options to the map, like Cossacks 3 (map size, starting options, number of villages, roads on/off, villages income, etc).
- Random map (by cofarider-88): Add some kind of random map mode. I've tested a mod that implements it, and it turned to be very funny, I think it could work
- Coop mode: The actual game support this feature, and it is very funny. It turns the game to be more micro-management oriented, and makes player to set up more complex tactics and coordination.
- King of the hill (by Dohmur): There could be some points in tactical positions of the map (roads, hills, villages, cities, etc), and the player must hold that position in order to win.
- More and bigger maps: At least, up to 8 players, but 12+ would be great.
- Battle for europe: The battles of this mode are very funny. I would improve:
- Strategic map: To look more like Total war series (medieval 1 I think is enough)
- Add more generals
- Add coop mode (at least, two player mode in battles)
- Add the change of defending a sector
- Add more factions and new periods (In my order of preferences):
- XVIII century
- Mid century XIX and Franco-Prussian war
- XVI-XVII century

Graphical suggestions:
- The actual graphics are not too bad (the game still looks ok). But, some kind of graphics in the middle between Cossacks 2 and Cossacks 3 would fit.
- Allow better zoom (in/out) and map rotation
- More smoke, to look like a real battle of the XIX century (see some Napoleon total war smoke mods to check what I'm saying)

Multiplayer suggestions:
- Proper hub to find games and players (by palesz27)
- Implement some kind of aiding system for beginners (by palesz27)
- A proper matchmaking
- Handicap mode (to make things easy for beginners)

Mods support:
- Add mod support, like cossacks 3.
- Provide tools and help so the community could make mods: In my opinion, mods adds variety to the game, and extends the game life longer.

Editor:
- Although the actual editor is enough and very good things can be done, there is not straightforward to use it. A simpler implementation, with the proper workshop integration, could make the community make (even) more maps.

Other suggestions:
- Add more techs
- Improve resource gathering
- Allow cheap buildings, specially houses
- New buildings
- Improve soldiers: Not very much improvements, because in my opinion, a lot of upgrades on units can make the game "unbalanced". The actual game lacks this feature, but on the other hand makes more important the players ability over the "tier" of the trops.
- Better visibility of the game (by ultimaspes): More announcements, offers and deals, so more player could know this game. The goal is to make the community bigger.

OMG yes please,C2i s one of the most unique and original games of all times, with an unique battle system that never bores me. It will be amazing if you do an remake or a sequel with that style, please!!!

This is my best RTS too.
Pros:
- Moral system
- Fatigue system
- Economy system: (simple but enough)
- Roads (tactical possibilities)
- Formation system (square, line, etc)
- Balance between the troops
- And I think the graphic is good enough for me.


Negatives:
In general:
- You can put the units the same position. It is an advantage in tactical part but this is really unrealistic.
- General problem: you cant build on the map where you want. There are many areas where not allowed to build. Often the bulidings are too big, should be an option for rotation.
- I think the game engine is weak for it. 1500+ population is lot for the engine paticularly in online games (i dont know it is just a guess)
In singleplayer:
- The biggest problem: the AI is stupid
The multiplayer:
- LAGS I dont know what is the problem whit it but this game is very often laggy and there are many connection problems.
- On online server there are few players. Why? Because the beginners no chance against the experienced players.
There should be a system for beginners because now there are no chance against veterans. For example: Beginner vs veteran battle: for the beginners: the peasants, mills and mines should produce more materials. It gives more chance for beginners.
And if the beginner after some battles become better and better this system helps him less and less. Rating system = helper system Of course it is required good balance.

I also really like the realistic combat system of cossacks 2, especially the effect of different formations, morale and fatigue. So I would also love to see a remake of it with better graphic, bug fixes and maybe a better advertising for the game, so more people would play it online.
I agree, i played tons and tons of RTs games ! enjoying cossacks a lot, Coss2 in terms of graphic, original units, fighting system is really really intresting, gameplay is slow and more tactic, it feels to be in a real war.. others gameplay are more random...in this one u can really position your troops, take in consideration many factors etc. Imagine this game with better maps, more faction or maybe more options and upgrades... wow

Thank you very much for your feedback. I've just done an expanded post making a mix with some of your ideas. Please, do not stop proposing new ideas, so the developers could see that this community wants a new Cossacks game :)

Definitely should be 2D, like original game.
hello again ! today i had a beautiful long match vs AI using the kingdom of Poland... what i can say! For sure same graphic 2D, i love it... need to solve some bugs alrdy mentioned in this post, adjust map and give more options... open for modding, and i have in my mind something i gonna tell u: for me would be beautiful in this game (a part to have few nations more) to have a kind of tech to unlock the units or special regiments .. something i saw in a AOE3 mod called hundred days... its beautiful to have proper uniform and regiments and to choose what you wanna use in a particular match

well then, get to it. there are a lot of friends (and players i know) i have, who think c2 would be a very good rts nowadays, if it could work online, to played together against ai, AND against each other, etc.
cossacks back to war was the best rts, that have multiplayer. yeah, you made it "better" by reanimating it with c2nw-s engine, but it has lost a lot of good features, some good units, thats why people still playing it, instead of c3.

so yeah, i think, if you guys would do it, it could be a very big shot.

but yeah, its not so easy to people try to do something better, right?

There would be fine, more 2v2 maps where allies bases are much closer to each other.

They have allready changed the AI in Cossacks2 now.. Soldiers move much slower on road suddenly and also they take back towns very quick.
