Xbox Controller buttons are mixed up - not working - A, X
Here's an old thread:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/488790/discussions/1/1483232961051449193/
and there are a few others but the issue is as explained.

To add to this, my older xbox one wireless controller works fine using the wireless dongle.

My newer xbox one with bluetooth has the button issues.
In battle, selecting abilities X,Y,B
then pressing A to use instead selects ability X and I can't use any abilities.

I verified files with no issues found.
I installed the xbox accessories app and it verified all buttons are working normal.
The bluetooth/newer xbox one controller has button issues in SPFBW.
I switch to older xbox wireless controller and game plays normal.

Hey s p a c e j a n i t o r,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you!

Does toggling with your controller button mapping help with this at all?

And do you have any other USB peripherals plugged in at the time beyond keyboard and mouse?

you might need a controller configuration through steam settings.

Thanks, I unplugged the wireless adapter and only used the newer controller and bluetooth
The game played as normal this time but only for 1 turn of combat. The next character turn had the issue back.

In-game, I plugged in the wireless adapter and turned on the old controller/turned off newer one.

Now the game works normally.

I then switched back to new controller and it worked for one turn.
I found I could power off the controller and back on and get one turn.

The controller works for other games normally and just seems to be SPFBW.

This at least led me to a solution that seems to be working so far. I've had an issue with Rocket League not responding to any xbox controller for a random length of time.

Steam Settings / Controller / General Controller Settings
Everything unchecked
Check box for 'Xbox Configuration Support'
Check box for 'Xbox Extended Feature Support'
