South Park The Fractured But Whole

Fractured But Whole Controller Problems
So when I try to play with a controller, all of the buttons work except for B, X and Y. Is anybody else having this problem? I thought maybe I had a bad download so I tried again and it didn't fix the problem. Maybe an early bug that they didn't catch?

I had the same or a similar issue. I use a XBox Wireless controller. In the tutorial I was able to select an attack with (X, Y or B) but I wasn't able to confirm it with the A button. It sometimes worked when I pressed the selection button and the a button at the same time.

I could solve the problem by going into the steam controller settings. In your game library right click on South Park The Fractured But Whole --> Properties --> Controller
Under "Override for South" park select "Enable Steam Input". Make sure you restart your game if it still running.
Now everything works as intended for me. I hope I could help someone with this solution.

Hello everyone!

I'm sorry to see you're also facing this issue. We did not experience this issue in a testing environment so there have been no updates to change it.

Let's start with some important steps -

Verify game files -

- Ubisoft Connect: https://support.ubisoft.com/Article/000060529
- Steam: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

If that doesn't work, disable background applications: https://support.ubisoft.com/Article/000063761

This will help us determine if any other background software is causing this conflict.

Thank you!

I had the same problem like most people here. X and A Button both worked the same way, so fights were unplayable. This problem only accured on the XBox One controller. The XBox 360 apparently is identified as an XBox Controller by steam with the Xbox-konfigurationassistant settings, so it works fine. The solution is to go into the Big Picture-Mode and go to the Controllersettings. There you have to enable the Xbox-Konfigurationassistent for the XBox One controller. Honestly idk how Ubisoft is not able to troubleshoot this by themselve. Reading this threat the Ubisoft support wasnt any help at all. I hope i solved peoples problems with this post.
So, I don't know if anyone else is still looking for this, however, if you go to properties for the game and activate the steam controller support, it fixes the issues. at least for now it is.

So this exact same problem happened to me. I am using the official Microsoft Xbox One controller with a random Asus bluetooth receiver.

X, A, B buttons being messed up. A being X and B being A.

I connected the controller by cable and the problem was solved. Hope this helps somebody!
This kind of a problem has only happened in this game. Really weird

This worked for me! Thank you so much. I was becoming very frustrated and thought I would have to just use keyboard and mouse, The Xbox Controller does not work for this game with default settings.

Did anyone find a solution? Having the same problems with X, B and Y on an official Xbox gamepad. I am playing from Ubisoft Connect, not Steam.

Hey blaeh,

Have you tried adding the game to Steam as a 'Non-Steam Game'?

This will allow you to use your Steam controller settings when playing and hopefully take advantage of the above workaround.

Let us know how you get on!

Hi elChef

Glad to hear that the suggestion worked for you as well, thanks for commenting on the thread to let us know :)

I've marked that reply from Pirki as the topic answer for now, just to provide some better visibility for anyone coming across this issue, so they'll be able to find it easier and try it out.
