I don't have any DLC so i'm unsure how much is their, but what i suggest is only use OP items once you start getting items in the same level.
The Ubisoft club items all have insanely high stats for the level you're supposed to be at. They definitely trivialize the experience but can be easily ignored since they're all clearly marked.
The DLC items on the other hand, like the Alien Probe Mk.2, give you only a slight boost very very early on. They're technically about the same strength as the items that you'd craft for your level, except that you get them from the start as opposed to needing to track down equivalent item recipes.
If you're trying to play from the start on Diabolic difficulty, a difficulty that was introduced late into the Season Pass run, I'd say the DLC items are a must for getting over the initial hurdle of not having any craftable items at all. It feels like Diabolic was balanced with the idea that you'd have the DLC items handy.
