Game runs slowly / with lag

The game is super slow to play, runs poorly. About half a second delay when pushing the WASD-buttons in the absolute beginning of the game (toilet-scene). Even the create character is a bit hard to navigate through. So it's completely unplayable for me.

Does anyone know if this fixable and if so, how?

If your PC meets the requirements for the game, then there is more likely a background application or a corrupt game file causing this slowdown. So, please try verifying the game's files:

1. Restart your computer and launch Steam
2. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
3. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game files... button.
4. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.

After this, please try disabling background applications:

1. Close all open programs and reboot your PC.
2. Press the Windows and R keys simultaneously.
3. Type msconfig into the box and press Enter.
4. Choose Selective startup.
5. Uncheck Load startup items.
6. Reboot your system.

After this, please test the game!

I tested it quickly now and couldn't notice any difference unfortunately. I will test it again tomorrow and also double-check the system requirements.

Hi! I realized my PC was too slow, didn't meet the system requirements. I couldn't imagine that was the case since I have a few "heavier" games installed that works perfectly. I should have checked that beforehand, sorry to waste your time.

For me, the game drastically slows down during Assassin's Quick Cut animation. Only there. That's strange.
