The Fractured But Whole literally takes place the day after The Stick of Truth ends. You play the same character, and in fact, the tutorial is done while still playing the fantasy game before everyone switches to superheroes.

The prologue of the game is The ♥♥♥♥ traveling back in time to enlist the aid of the ancient Warriors of Zoron in the super-hero Civil War. I.E. Cartmen telling everyone we're done playing fantasy LARP and we're going to play super-heros now. The map is the same, the ruins of Kupa Keep are still in Cartmen's back yard, there is guy complaining that it feels like he's been standing at the bus stop for three years, and you get to become King Dragon Slayer Douchbag before starting over as a super hero.
