Does difficulty actually affect anything?
Starting money is one thing, anything else?

Im wondering this too.
Does the race you pick actually change anything ingame when it comes to difficulty?
Are you forced to play as black if you want to play on hard?

No, once you actually start the game you'll see an option to set the Combat Difficulty in the menu.
The difficulty slider making you black was just a joke, though apparently some people treat you worse the higher you put the slider. And yea some slight differences re. in-game money which you probably end up having too much of either way.
Currently playing on 'easy' but on max combat difficulty and it's definitely not 'easy'.

i saw some people do say "i see my son made some...interesting friends" when you're black.
Or "you do realize you dont live here?" if youre black vs "oh youre on a little house adventure!" if youre white (even tho the first one would be what youd say to any white person who goes into another persons house)

Money seems to be exactly the same you start with 0 regardless.

I can't tell if the xp you get from being white is the same as black how ever

Can you imagine if the race thing was reversed? The world would of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ended.

This would be classed as being made by nazis lmao

I've gotten all 3 of those comments on what you woud call 2nd skin pigment level. Just raised combat to Mastermind.

You dont even need to reverse the races just make jews and asians be easyer then playing whites. Because according to statistics in america jewish people and asians outearn whites by far and are more succesful

but this goes against the opression olympics so you would have journalists writing article after article even if it would be just a joke

Outside of a few off-hand references (such as Grandpa Marsh, who mistakes the New Kid for Stan, remarking that that he's gotten really big...and black), there isn't really make much of a difference outside of one achievement that one gets for completing the game on Mastermind difficulty while playing a black character.
