Steam and Uplay
Steam is a program that runs in the background while you play, you have to sing in, blah blah blah. So is Uplay, but people treat Uplay like it killed their family. Why?

I already know the answer from a lot of you, about how PC players cry about almost everything, and that is ture, I know that. But I want to hear from one of the people who hate Uplay, and to give me a legit reason to also hate it. And for me to do that, it is going to have to affect the actual game, does it make a game worse just because it is on Uplay? If i take any given Steam game, and say it is now on Uplay, is that game now actually a horrible game? I want to know why it is such a huge deal, enlighten me. Is it just because it's another program on your computer, and you would rather it not be? Understandable, but review bombing multiple games over it? Going on a crusade against it? I just don't get it.

I'm not trying to troll or be a d!ck, I genuinely would like to understand because I have been seeing this for years now.

All I can seem to understand is that it's another program you have to have to play the game, and that 1 step is enough to throw people off the edge. Is it really as simple as that?

I hate to create a zillion acounts, and even worse, to create an account on a platform to play a game in another platform.

Uplay is literally 1 other account though....

Would it be better if all Uplay games were on Uplay only, like Origin does with it's new releases?

I feel like I time jumped 5 or so years ago when uPlay first became a thing with all this chatter

Guess what if i wanted games with UPlay i would buy it on their platform. I have enough with one intrusive DRM (Steam) where i just happen to have plenty of games before UPlay came out. On top of that UPlay had plenty of problems in the past with people not being able to play because the servers were ♥♥♥♥.

Steam is intrusive? How so? It just sits there, giving you a convienient library, a friends list, updates for your games, an easy way to make and share screenshots. What is so bad about that? What is so bad about DRM in general, is Steam going out of business? Should I be scared for my game collection? Are they just going to decide to take them all back?

Understandable with the past problems of Upay servers, point for that, BUT, is it still a problem recently? Do people still encounter that?

Bad idea knowing how ♥♥♥♥ the Uplay DRM is. If you watch some videos, it's pretty easy to hack into a Uplay account due to it being very flawed and easy to get into.

What I can say to this topic is with the example of the new South Park game.
It is on steam and does not give a warning that family sharing does not work on it. In the family page in the steam settings you can check for games that are excluded from family sharing, this game is NOT EXCLUDED. Meaning, according to steam, you can share is. But here is where Uplay ruins it. The game does not work shared because the steam and uplay account it is bought on are linked. Even if I am logged in into the Uplay account of my friend that bought it and in steam I am in my account with family sharing of his library i cannot play it. I could only play it if logged in into his account and I need to be in online mode as his key is only on the steam servers. So, basically this game has a partnership with steam but compeltely ♥♥♥♥♥ over steams share policies beause it is a single game you need 2 platforms for. Sure, Uplay is unsafe but the real problem for me is if I have a game that needs 2 different launchers AT ONCE to work because that can cause all kinds of trouble. Also Ubisoft is a pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ company to all PC gamers as they literally called PC Players all Pirates and hackers in interviews before they had UPLay. So, that is my view on this and maybe it helps you because Uplay literally tells you you can share this game, but makes it technically impossible because they probably do not understand what they actually do and why the multi launcher thing makes it not work.

I don't understand why people hate Uplay either. You just make another account, and you can play. You don't even have to mess with the other account either.

Uplay is less of a problem for me than say Denuvo, I don't like Uplay mostly because I am already buying the damn game and giving money, why do I need to register a new account with another party? Yes, it's one more account, but it's still an extra thing I have to set up and manage. I also have to worry about vulnerabilities in that new venue I have to sign up for (people tend to reuse passwords, one of the big ways hackers can wreck someone is hitting a vulnerable site and then extrapolating from there) .

I also don't like having to have Uplay on my machine, it's an extra thing I have to download, maintain and deal with evolving permissions and drive conflicts for. Now it isn't inherently a dealbreaker for me but I am explaining that it isn't unreasonable for a person to say "Look, I'm paying you the money, I'm giving you what you asked for, why are you punishing me? Why are you demanding that I jump through extra hoops after already giving you money?"

I agree completely with this person. I shouldn't need to download Uplay to play a game on Steam. It's f**king stupid, and so Uplay should just piss off.

All saltiness aside, it's not that I hate the Uplay system itself. If a game was solely on Uplay, I would be perfectly fine. But, if a game on Uplay required Steam to work, then I'd hate Steam for doing the EXACT SAME THING.
