How to set up a Dream Car Builder Dedicated Server
How to set up a Dream Car Builder Dedicated Server

You can download the "DCB Server" tool either through the Steam tool section, or SteamCMD if you would like to avoid signing into steam entirely!

Option 1.
1. In the Library tab select Tools. Locate "DCB Server" and install it.
The installation folder: Library -> Tools -> Locate "DCB Server" and right click on it -> Properties -> Local files -> Browse local files...

Option 2.
1. Make a folder somewhere you will remember, and call it SteamCMD
2. Download the zip from here: https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/installer/steamcmd.zip
3. Extract steamcmd.zip into the SteamCMD folder
4. Start "steamcmd.exe" then type this after:
+login anonymous +force_install_dir c:\DCBServer +app_update 1010510 validate +quit
"c:\DCBServer" - is the folder you want to install the server to.

When the DCBServer is installed, just start "dcbserver_x64.exe" or "dcbserver_x32.exe" in the DCBServer folder.

Running a server silently in background can be achieved by launching "dcbserver_x64_silent.bat" or "dcbserver_x32_silent.bat". To setup the parameters of this server, just edit these .bat files.

You can start several instances of DCB server on one PC using different ports for different maps.

The server ports by default:
5998, 8766, 27016 (dcbserver_x64_silent.bat)
5999, 8767, 27017 (dcbserver_x64_silent_2nd_instance.bat)
6000, 8768, 27018 (dcbserver_x64_silent_3rd_instance.bat)

In order to host a server, you must have the server ports open and forwarded for UDP and TCP connections (if you use a router), OTHERWISE, YOUR SERVER WILL NOT BE VISIBLE FROM THE INTERNET!

How to add a map from workshop to your server:
1. Subscribe to the map you want in Steam Workshop.
2. Find the folder of this Workshop Item on your PC, typically it is:
"d:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\488550\1315180776\"
3. Start DCBServer
4. Click "Map"
5. Click "+"
6. Choose the Workshop Item Folder

This is the only thing that should have a video tutorial. Not that I need one, just saying. I'll probably start working on creating a server sometime this week.

There are many videos and tutorials in the internet. The process is the same as for other games.

the best way to ask for a server is to log in the game discord and ask the peeps

last time i saw they even got a discord bot that can open and close servers so go over there and ask them

There is a Discord bot in the Discord server that can automatically host servers for you. Just do /startserver and it will start immediately.
