How does this game play on Reverb G2?
How well does the tracking work for this game on Reverb G2? It was perfect on the CV1, I just got G2 but haven't gotten around to playing this yet, I play against a friend, so I want to make sure he doesn't have a major advantage by using CV1. I have found G2 tracking sucks in most applications, it is not near the quality I am used to with the external sensors on the CV1 setup. Does this game constantly lose tracking?

A question to the dev: Do you find that WMR is the worst of all the VR and has the least support offered? I feel like I went from the best, most supported headset to the red headed stepchild that will just get no love at all because WMR seems to suck in comparison to the others that came out at around the same time.

At this moment, the tracking is not good for the g2. .. thought it isn't that the quality is bad (like you lose tracking, or it can't keep up with the speed of anything like that). It is that the prediction algorithm used (it has to be be predicted forward to offset for render latency), is not correct. I have spoken with the WMR developer(s), and they said a fix is coming, but were not able to specify any detail other than "soon".

I will however try to offset for their prediction when I get a chance.

Meanwhile, some other user just mentioned to me they set up Index Knuckles to work with G2, and said it's wonderful :D

Thank you. Yeah Index Knuckles look like a good option. I'm just not willing to spend an additional $500 on a setup for the tracking. I kept my CV1 also, I'll use it until WMR fixes their prediction algorithm

May be worth you checking out some of the tube videos and comments on Reddit about good set up for tracking. If you are having big issues in most games etc, it is probably more environmental ie lighting etc than the G2 itself.

Not had any issues with tracking myself part from if you hold controllers out of camera view for more than a few seconds even then it comes straight back.

No issues with G2 in this game either, although I have only just started with game.

Looking for a way to reset table position, re-doing tutorial bit dont help, pushing the button/s does not move it like it did the first time.

does this also apply to other wmr headsets? For example, I have the Reverb G1 (first wmr gen)

I'm not 100% certain if the tracking algo is exactly the same, but from my memory it is very similar.

I just got my G2 today and I think it works really well. I have the Quest 2 and have played both PCVR on the Quest 2 and native on the Quest 2. For me, tracking goes G2 > Quest 2 native >>> Quest 2 PCVR.

Yeah I second that, although I can't compare the G2 to anything, it's my first VR experience. Got it today and played the game for around an hour. My left controller disappeared once but that could have been me holding it too far away from the headset. The lights in my room are pretty bright also. Other than that it worked really well.

we are testing a version of the game for q1/q2, that makes the tracking match or be better than riftS/RiftCV1 (not counting occlusion issues)

If anyone else with a G2 wants to test out the tracking, setup the ball machine to serve into your body and try to return a top spin with a reasonable pace backhand. Without fail I will miss everytime. The tracking is apparently throwing the racket off position with acceleration and is hopefully going to be fixed by WMR team ?

I hope so, controller tracking on this g2 sucks. Those that think it's the bees knees must have never used a VR system with external tracking before. You have to hold your arms in a position like freaking T-Rex or it loses hand tracking. I don't believe this can be fixed through software, the camera placement on this headset sucks ass. I don't think it's worth an additional $500 to get index and base station tracking. This headset is only good for simulators.

falkenbbs - i don't think software updates can fix out of tracking cone issues (as that is what it sounds like you are talking about). They can fix the inverted tracking skew. I didn't play much with it because of the skew, so I can't say the tracking cone is a bad size.

next year :P , i'll be making a diagram of the tracking cones per headset

G2 user here, struggling to return any shot forehand. Backhand works pretty consistently and is very immersive. Think I may refund this till the thing is tweaked as suggested above. To be clear: I'd be a v. happy customer but for the forehand tracking. Lovely game.

G2 will not work well if you are can play against a medium+ bot and do well consistently. The controller will lose tracking under you when you wind up for a hit and then will snap into position on a different axis which results in whiffs or 1000 mph shots. You'd have to see your paddle controller in your line of sight at all times for this to not happen, but that is unnatural.

I started playing the game with CV1 and tracking was awesomely precise. When i fist got the G2 i was in total dispair, what a dissapointment. The visuals where ♥♥♥♥♥♥, everything blurry, fov tiny and the tracking was total ♥♥♥♥. The paddle sometime seem to suddenly accelerate or stop so the ball would fly off like a rocket or drop dead. After nearly two weeks it turned our that you really need strong 1.5 V batteries and not 1.2 rechargable ones. Tracking works with 1.2 but it is really really bad. Switching to 1.5V lithium batteries made the game playable and enjoyable again. I am still getting used to the different controller but it is fun again. And for the visuals if you have a big head you really need to get the frankenmod or something similar, getting closer to the lenses not only increased the fov but is also massively reduces the blur.
