Auto Serve or One Handed Serve with Paddle Hand?
Dear Developers, I really enjoy your simulation and VR in general and a very important factor for me is the use of VR for disabled players. I have a friend that ony has the use of one arm and wondered if there was a way that you can let her be able to serve with the same hand as the paddle or a sort of auto serve please?

This would be absolutely fantastic if this was possible.

Many thanks, Jonathan.

we have just pushed a big update to the beta branch - there there is one handed mode fully supported. Just go into the menu, controller settings, and select paddle ball toss. Let me know what you think.

You can also change where the ball is tossed from, just like you update the paddle position.

...also the auto serve option is there for a while

Can any of the developers enlighten me on the above question please?

Similar question where a developer responded and even kind of mentioned your point:

Hi, thanks for pointing that out. I searched but didn't come across any references. I think this is a very pertinent point for handicapped players, as there aren't many implementations of specific control types to enable the disadvantaged to enjoy games such as these.

Please could a developer post an update regarding this issue?

Thanks very much.

if you follow that link heres what our dev has said previously, we do not have an update on this

"it's not very high on the todo list, true, but it is also not very low. Breaking a controller is one thing - but there are people that can't use two controllers for other reasons, and we don't want them to not be able to play the game.

A bunch of things need to be done in order to make one handed play work. We will look into it."

Ansatz,

Yes I read through the link provided above (which 'Mugendon' was the original respondent of 3 months prior).

I appreciate the reply from yourself, as I wondered how this particular issue had progressed, especially as it would be a great boon for disabled players to enjoy this simulation.

Thanks.

I have only just seen your response but wanted to thank you very much.

All the best !

The one hand features are great - I seem to be losing many points though, due to 'double hitting' the ball, with the one hand toss option?

hi nearimpossibility, by default the ball toss position from one handed toss is within the paddle. I need to fix it to move it away, but you can do that manually. Go to controller settings, and just as you adjust the paddle position, create a custom preset (or adjust a custom preset), for the ball toss position. If you encounter issues with this, please contact me on discord and I'll help with videos

Hi there, thanks for your quick answer - I was just testing and found that it was because I had the ball on the paddle (I naturally felt to position it there to enable tossing it upwards!) I just moved it away as you said and that's perfect.

I haven't seen the auto toss option, so I guess that has been removed?

Lastly is there a way to link the one handed toss to a preset? I have created two handed and one handed presets with custom ball grip positions and just wondered if it was possible to capture the one hand toss tickbox along with a saved preset?

Thanks so much.

well, you can define a toss position preset, but it would be tied to one handed play or not...

so the flow would be

1. enable paddle ball tossing
2. go to controller options, and switch to one handed toss preset (that you've made)

later

1. disable paddle ball tossing
2. go to controller options, and switch to the default toss preset

...there has never been an auto toss option in the Eleven

Hi Hillary – I know this is an old thread, but I'm trying to set up Eleven Table Tennis on the Meta Quest 2 for someone who is only able to do one-handed controller mode. I can't figure out how to enable paddle ball tossing as you suggest above. Is this setting still the same in the Quest 2? Hoping this setting still exists and you can give me some advice on setting it up.

Thank you!

For anyone else with this question, I spoke to the Eleven Table Tennis support team and they said that this setting isn't yet available in the Quest 2 app, so you need to downgrade the app. Below are the instructions to do it.

The steps to downgrade is as follows (on the Quest 2 which is what you are using)
Discord Link:
https://discord.com/channels/340715434099605515/404206967691804672/1096125900799606894

Same information here:
Steps to downgrade
Close ETT Application
open oculus mobile app
find 'eleven table tennis' in your library
click on eleven table tennis
scroll down to 'version' (if not visible, click “more info”)
click the number/long string beside 'version'
click on dropdown that shows 'live' currently
select 'previous version: xxxxxx'
Game should show an available 'update' and ask to install it

once back on the old UI, the setting is in setting->controller -> "toss from paddle hand"
