Is Paddle Spin settings working ?
Hi,

I'm having real hard time to put effect on the ball.
I Tried (maybe incorrectly) to max Paddle Spin in option panel but without any effects.

Any tips to put correctly spin effects to the ball ?

Hi Greg42. Paddle spin affects the friction on the paddle. Moving it all the way to the left, would not allow you to do anything like what's seen in this video:

Moving it all the way to the right, and you'll be able to do that.

Please let me know if it doesn't work for you.

Hi I have the paddle spin all the way to the right but don't seem to be getting any spin on the ball at all. Using Oculus touch.

hi Milkman. A number of things can be happening.

1. What makes you think you aren't getting any spin?
2. just to be sure, do you know how to get spin on the ball (just checking, not trying to be rude).
3. preferences, such as paddle spin, are set using the registry. If you have some restricted settings on your machine, it may be possible that the setting never gets set and it stays at default.

I'll be happy to troubleshoot 1 on 1 with you. Send me a friend request and we can see what's going on.

Where in the registry is everything saved? I'd like to make a backup :)

on my machine it is
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\DefaultCompany\Eleven

Thanks :) And there I was wondering, if I was to dumb to find the key for the company "For Fun Labs" just to find out you are hiding right there ;)

hey none of us even knew where unity apps store data until we found it where, and that we didn't set up the company name :)

....why are game settings being controlled via the registry?

that's just where unity stores the player prefs object. That isn't something designed. In the future we might change it, but so far we haven't seen any problems related to it. If we find that it is a problem specifically, we'll gladly update.

It will surely cause issues at some point related to privilege access, I think using a configuration file inside the user account would be much more reliable.

Changing the slider doesn't seem to change the spinning for me either. In regedit the Data value for paddleSpin is set to(invalid DWORD (32-bit) value)

woahh, that's no good. Skatan, I'm sending you an invite so i can troubleshoot directly. That definitely shouldn't be the case, and if it is, it's a bug...though i'm curious how it ended up that way for you.
R-S Apr 11, 2017 @ 5:49am
oha! Same by me, nearly the half of all values have "invalid DWORD (32-bit) value"...
Hillary Apr 11, 2017 @ 7:43am
oh...then that might just be a fault with the registry display, and not with the game code. We are storing floats there.

I just played against Hillary. The spinning works as intended and the registry values are correct. I was just confused by the way the AI returns the ball to neutralize the spinning. The spinning effect should be easier to see against human opponents.
