How do you stop flipping!??!
Loving the game/physics/graphics so far.... Until I got to the part in the tutorial about flipping..... The few times I can actually get the guy to flip, he just starts flipping like crazy... BUT THERE'S NO WAY TO STOP THE FLIPPING AND I CRASH EVERY SINGLE EFFING TIME!!!! The tutorial is MISSING the vital part where it tells you how to LAND a flip or JUST STOP FLIPPING!!!!!!!

With ANY other snowboarding game all you have to do is press forward or just release the stick or stop pressing anything... but NOTHING WORKS HERE. He just flips like crazy until crashing.....

And it also wouldn't hurt to have a 'hold to restart' option or a 'are you sure you want to restart?" prompt option for the 'x' button cuz every once in a while I accidentally brush it when moving the right analog around and restart the whole thing which gets IRRITATING as hell

But the main problem is the tutorial lacking on this very basic function. I know the tutorial isn't mandatory as I've already accidentally quit out of it by 'going to chopper' by pressing 'y' trying anything to stop flipping. Also wouldn't hurt to hace a hold or prompt option for 'y' too.. Jus sayin.

Is there even a way to stop flipping? Or do you just roll the dice every time you want to flip? Pressing the opposite direction works well to stop spinning, so why not with flipping?

Or also stopping holding/pressing any button at all also works well for other snowboarding games... So what's the magic/secret trick to pulling off this (seemingly) super-complicated maneuver?? What am I missing????

Other than this, loving the game so far..

Oi dude, chillax :weed::emofdr:

I want to know that too. So, if anyone has an answer that would be nice :D

You have to time out your jumps/flips/spins much like you would in real life. Over time you will start to adjust to how much or little you have to huck your flips.

That... Doesn't seem right. Even in real life you can stop flipping pretty much the same way you stop spinning... This game has a way to stop spinning... It makes ZERO sense to not have the ability to stop flipping. And how exactly do u "time" the flip in the first place? It almost seems random how fast you'll start flipping.. and you're just supposed to know how far/high the jump will take you? Or say you're jumping off a cliff? "Timing" doesn't seem like the appropriate way to describe this. More like "trial and error."

You hold down the triggers and the right analog stick then let go and the amount of flip seems to be different each time. I don't see how you can control this? And if you do it with just the sticks then it makes even less sense to not be able to at least slow down your flipping EXACTLY like you would/can with spinning - and in real life for that matter.

Have you ever seen a real boarder pull off a flip and just stay in that exact position until the end of the trick? R u saying they just jump and begin rotating, start praying and just stay locked in that position until they land and hope they "timed" the flip right?

It just makes ZERO sense to not be able to at least slow down a flip, just like in real life...

The amount of time you "pre-load" your flips with the triggers determines how fast/slow you will flip. If you tap them, you will flip ultra slow. There is a sweet spot that will make you flip at an ideal rate, but this is all bases on what obstacle you are playing on.

Trail and error is for sure part of it, but once you have the nuance of the control down, it is a calculated timing situation.

We understand the controls aren't pick up and play, but the more you put in the easier it will become.

Maybe it just feels wrong because im used to Skate. Cant remember any game in this genre where you couldnt stop the flip or atleast adjust it(if the game didnt level you out anyway, but thats nothing we want i think ;) ). It feels weird/wrong.

It'll take some adjusting to get used to, but you will be able to calculate your landings in due time.

Could be that this option in the trick list confused me too: http://i.imgur.com/yMvM0ZV.png

It says you could increase the rate of rotation. When i make a flip i can tuck in but it doesnt affect the rate of rotation.

Thanks for answering our questions anyway :ss13ok: love the game until now, beside the flips :jdhat:

Btw, are you guys open for suggestions for the editor? And where to submit bugreports?

Yes, while flipping you can speed up and slow down slightly by letting go or pushing the triggers. When you grab you will flip faster as well.

Haven't picked up the game yet, so can't comment on how it feels in-game.

But not being able to stop a spin and only slow it down is actually how it works in real life... You huck yourself into the spin and un-tuck/counter-rotate your body at the right time to basically pause the spin briefly for landing.

If you were to mistime it, you would continue to spin(albeit at a slower pace). Watch pro-boarders and if you've ever seen them mistime it they quickly rotate back into the spin to land point forwards.

You can shifty/twist to try and squeak out a landing in the game. It wont be clean but you can ride away from it.

I'm with OP. These controls for flips are just stupid. The controls for everything seem broken and inconsistent. I'm actually on the verge of refunding the game because I can't do anything. Want to just do a flat spin and it either starts doing a crazy corked trick or an incredibly slow 180. It took me ages to just complete the tutorial and that was just luck that I randomly got the flip.

Recommend buying Stoked: Big Air Edition at this point.

Sorry to hear that.

Flat spins can be performed either from the triggers, or simply ollieing and pushing left/right on left analog stick.

It all depends on how fast you want to spin.

Dude, calm down. You havent even spent a full hour on this game yet (0.8h) and youre throwing it out because you wernt instantly adept?

Not trying to be mean, im just saying thats a shame. If you really want your money back, go for it, as you can always change your mind. But trying to scare other players off over this just kinda sucks...

Anyways I hope you come back. The more players the better.
Hellfire Oct 25, 2016 @ 6:53am
I'm warning other players of the poor control scheme. The feel of the game is easily the most important factor for a game in this genre. A goal was to do a clean FS 720. I can't do that at all and it should be one of the most simple tasks in the game.

You have to use the appropriate amount of torque (charged with the triggers) to achieve different rates of rotation. You can slow/speed up your rotation by opening up/tucking (triggers) your body in the same way a figure skater or diver does. So, you need to time when you tuck and when you open up. Try experimenting with different amounts of loaded torque and different timings for tucking and opening up of your body. The slower your initial spin, the more you are able to appear to "slow/stop your rotation". If you huck your self off of a feature with max torque, well, hold on for the ride my friend...
