Game crashing up on loading

Hello. I've been playing this game for quite sometime. I took a break from it, maybe over a year. I'm trying to load it but I keep getting this error message: "Application crashed, crash dump save as: C:\users\Peter\Documents\ship extremes user data\log files\crash@[e-mail]. could someone please help me? Let me know what's happening and how to fix it. I would like to play it again. Thanks

There is a guide on how to install something to get the game to run on more modern graphics cards by tricking it into thinking you are using older one.
