Agony
Agony Lore Talk The Red Goddess *Spoilers*
So we learn some interesting things about the Red Goddess.
1. She doesn't seem to be an Angel nor a Demon.

2. She arrived in Hell and stole the beast of the Apocolypse from Satan, as well as a very large chunk of Hell and the demon population. Satan does not like her, but it doesn't appear that he has the power to do anything about it.

3. She is the daughter of "the Infinite father".

4. She appears differently depending on who sees her.

5. The Baphomet creature says that Nimrod's soul belongs to Satan, and not the Red Goddess. Despite his ritual being attributed to her in order to control Demons.

6. Hell predated her arrival. Meaning she only "created" her large portion of Hell. "Far beyond the burning clouds, there are lands devoid of her image... There you will find the despair of the Black City, a place that lives on the sound of suffering, a place in which naught is felt but fear of the Devil Himself."

7. The name Inanna and Ishtar are thrown around a lot in reference to the Red Goddess.

8. The Succubus Demon is a fallen Angel, as she performs some ritual to try and get her wings back.

9. Angel's exist, the Red Goddess thinks they're boring creatures.

Considering all of the above, the lore seems to be a combination of Christian, Mesopotamian, Sumerian and Uruk mythologies. Here is what I think.
The Red Goddess is more powerful than Satan. Otherwise why would she be able to get away with doing such things to him in his own domain?
Demons, most Demons, are fallen Angels. Others are humans that are turned into Demons by higher powers (IE) Red Goddess.

The Red Goddess is Madmind's amalgamation of The ♥♥♥♥♥ Of Babylon, Lilith and Innana, the Sumerian Goddess of love, beauty, sex, desire, fertility, war, combat, justice, and political power.

In the mythology of Agony, I think this is how it operates.

Namma, the primordial infinity, created various Gods. One of which is the Red Goddess. The most powerful God, Ana (who is the chief justice of the Gods in Sumerian mythology) created a race of servant creatures known as Angel's. These Angels rebelled, Satan being their leader. The underworld was turned into a Hell by Satan and his followers. The Red Goddess, who desires to spread her dominion everywhere, decides to use the beast of the Apocolypse and other Demons to mount an assault against Earth and the other Gods. As the Goddess Inanna very often conquered things through war. I feel like the Red Goddess was stuck in Hell, similar to how Inanna was tricked into "dying" in the underworld.

So the summarize the hierarchy as based on the text I've read (some of which contradict others).
You have the primordial infinite father, which spawned the Gods. Ana (God, the Lord) and the Red Goddess are two of those Gods. Ana creates a race of servants to serve him and eventually mankind. Some Angels rebelled and were sent to the Underworld. Which they turned into Hell under the Dark Lord Satan's rule.
The Red Goddess has an innate desire to conquer and corrupt (false worshipping of the pleasures of the flesh). She traveled to Hell to conquer it and was accidentally trapped there. She stole much of Hell from Satan, and Demons followed her due to her teachings of "redemption", which inadvertently (or purposefully) caused the damned to kill, torture and worship in her name. She stole the beast of the Apocolypse and many other demons, as well as the soul of Nimrod (who made a pact with Satan to be able to command Demons) in order to help her espace Hell and jump start the Apocolypse and her assault upon Babylon (which is very likely protected by other gods).

That's sort of how I filled in the blanks based on the context of the story and the religions the mythology is based on.

The ending of the game makes it obvious who she is, but I don't wanna spoil the ending.

I know who she is. She's the w*♥♥♥♥ of Babylon. But she's more than that. As the game's notes and lore suggest. She's not just one or the other, she is an amalgamation of a bunch of different Goddess's.

Yeah I mainly meant shes the woman in the book of revelations that comes in on the beast with 7 heads which is the beast you fight at the end. LOVED that level, the whole Tower of Babel thing was awesome.

It was. A lot of the notes about her are interesting. She evidently stole the beast from Satan, and is through implication, more powerful than him. I have read as many notes as I could, watched all the endings and listened to a ton of dialogue. So the stuff above is more in game cannon than head canon. The only head canon thing is the part about Ana and the Red Goddess coming from the same infinite father as many of the gods from Sumerian culture came from. We know that The Red Goddess (neither demon, human nor Angel) is the daughter of the Infinite father. Surely not God, as God wouldn't create an innately evil beast. Surely not Satan, as she wasn't born in Hell, nor is their relationship described at all like one. With her seemingly taking a piece of Hell with no resistance from Satan beyond anger, makes me think he can't really do anything about it. So I figured that she's probably both the wh*ore of Babylon as well as The Goddess Inanna.
She just kind of showed up and started doing her own thing. Very similar to the Sumerian Goddess Inanna (who is talked about in reference to the Red Goddess a lot).
Anyway, just thought it'd be cool to hear from people who may have found lore within the game to contradict my headcanon.

Yeah the lore is very interesting. There is a comic you can unlock that takes place before when Nimrod was alive. You should check that out cause if I'm not mistaken The Red Goddess (The ♥♥♥♥♥ of Babylon) is alive (live human on earth) in the comic.

Yeah, I know that much. I have heard of the comic before, I just don't ever remember the Red Goddess being a human in the comic. I remember her tricking Nimrod as he wanted to control Demons. But she was still a Goddess of sorts. I'll have to find the complete thing.

I just read the comic. In it, Nimrod offered his soul to the Dark Lord in order to control Demons and Angels and take God's place. His wife, a priestess of Ishtar (which is the Babylonian equivalent of the Goddess Inanna) convinces him to build the tower in her name. He does so and is, as far as I can tell, is tricked by his wife high priestess and killed. The tower of Bable is sent to Hell and the high priestess/wife reveals herself to be the Goddess Ishtar (Red Goddess/Wh*ore of Babylon). As far as I can tell, the headcanon still fits luckily 😥
