Can't recruit from villages anymore?

I recruited a few sets of volunteers, up to about 15 men, but now no villages ever offer me the option to recruit volunteers? How am I supposed to get an army?

Recreated character, ran into same problem. Can't recruit volunteers after a couple of days in game. What gives?

i had this same issue maybe we're limited to mercenary camps im guess?

I really like this game btw just i think a steep learning curve i guess , but im hoping some mount and blade fanatico will give some guidance here for us

Yeah, basically the three main ways of recruiting include mercenary camps (very expensive to equip descent gear on guys), taverns (mercenary horsemen, musketeers, etc..) and to directly hire prisoners from parties you defeat.

You can recruit people from villages only if you are allied with an actual nation, and being a rebel doesn't count. You are basically limited to mercenary camps, taverns, prisoners from other armies, prisoners you take, and heroes from taverns if you want to stay a rebel, or you can appoint a town commander as a rebel, and they will bring in massive numbers of diverse troops for you to play with.

Notes on recruitment
1) Can only recruit from the same town once a week
2) Can only recruit from towns that like you or are in the same faction as you
3) Cannot Recruit people beyond a your party cap (increses with charasima and renown from winning battles) limit should be on top of party menu

Once you join a faction after a while you can get commanders in cities and they train troops for you. YOu have to wait a few days and then they join. If you have a fief then you can recruit volunteers from villages within your faction. Mainly start small and be patient attacking only smaller stuff. I then got employed by a faction where you can fight with bigger armies etc...

Run into that....Hate it, i used to do like in mount and blade, recruit raw troops and then train them to elite troops.Found an archive that you can put in the game, and you can recruit troops and upgrade them.Exemple:Nomad-Kapikulu-Kapikulu (Veteran)-Seymen....Try searching on google i don't have the link anymore =/.Good luck!

Still not understanding how it isnt helpful.

For example, as soon as I start, I am a "freeman", and therefore bear no title to any of the nations in the game.

Without being allied with any of these nations, villages will not allow you to recruit from them, even if you have 99 relation with them, it is a hardcoded process.

In order to recruit from sweeden, you have to be a vassal of sweeden, and so on so forth.

I actually enjoy this more, because now, if you are a freeelancing mercenary, you can only hire mercenary troops, but if you join sweeden as a sweedish warlord, you can recruit their factions troops.

Get a full army of mercenary all elite, then you will be nearly invinsible

you need to join a faction (or create one) after taht you will be able to recruit but only from that faction

I never try to do that.Here is why

There is no upgrade path if it is a rietar it will only upgrade to the vetern version.
The only exception is those recruits who turn into militiamen who can be vetens and are horrid.
the other ways are...

• Recruit prisoners both from party and defeated party prisoners
  
• Recruit mercanarys from camps
  
• Become a faction mercanary and you can recruit troops dirictly from commanders in towns

this happaind to me but only Nord controlled villages.... I can recruit from other faction controlled...
