Directx9 is terrible
I loaded up fire and sword on my new computer, and it runs at 3 - 4 fps, when my old computer with worse hardware ran it perfectly fine. I noticed a similer issue when trying to play smite, where the game lagged horribly while using (by default) directx9, but ran great on high settings when i switched over to directx11. THe issue for fire and sword is that it does not provide support for any other direct x than 7 or 9. Any advice?

Also, running the game on directx7 actualy caused the game to lag more.

i would say it was your video card not having dx9 but i cant imagin that as the problem. also im running win7 and the game runs smooth as glass

i reinstalled the game, and for some reason it runs fine now, i supose there might have been some sort of corrupted data. Still do't know why Smite also had issues with directx9, but it is directx11 compatible, so no real issue there.

Installing new versions of Direct X often overwrites essential files with other versions. Also, sometimes a game will install an older version on top of a newer version. It is very easy to get Direct X messed up and have problems with one or more games. This is mostly a problem with the way Direct X and Windows are designed, so blame Microsoft.
