Joining Factions
As a new player here, I'm just interested about at what point you are able to join a faction?
Does it depend on reputation??

Usually you need a high rep and work as a mercenary for a bit but you can get into a "rebel" faction at rep 200 when you talk to one of the ousted faction leaders that you find at a tavern (towns only) there's a leader for each of the factions and if you have trouble finding one ask a traveler and for a tip he give you a tip where they can be found. Once you swear alliegence you become part of that rebel faction and be able to recruit those type of faction troops from towns/fortresses under your control and peasants from villages under your/rebel control. This is by far the easiest way to gain control of a town/fortress when the rebel lord asks you to whom the newly conquered place goes to. If you become a vassel of a regular lord its a dice roll and you be lucky to get a village for helping to conquer something. If you decided to leave either faction you find yourself as a rebel outlaw and unable to recruit peasants from villages but can recruit a variety of nation's troops depending what fortess/town you took (ie a swede town conquered will now provide swede troops).

Wait, so if you decide to leave a faction, you instantly become an outlaw to that faction, which will lead to them hunting you down??

It be random but the other factions will declare war on you at one time or another and if you keep kicking their butt they sue for peace but start up a fight again with ya just like they would with each other. If you have lots of money you can bribe a faction lord for a peace treaty which comes in handy if you're fighting multiple factions.

When you say towns, what do you mean? Is a place like Warsaw a town, or are you talking about villages

Towns I really should call em cities they are huge fortress-like area that you can buy gunpowder , lots of food (some u cant) and recruit companions and join rebel faction leaders in their taverns. Fortesses(also know as castles) you can sell gunpowder for a good profit but will not be able to recruit anything but mercenaries from their taverns. They are more easily defended and hard to take. You can sneak into towns/cities but you cant fortesses/castles. You can poison the water supply of towns to kill off defending troops but you cant in fortesses. Yes Warsaw would be a town/city.

Just checking what you meant by towns, because you could've meant villages or castles/cities
