If you tried all of those mentioned and it still does not work, I would recommend trying older versions of drivers. But you need to be careful and always have back-up available.

Me too I only got to play the first campaign tutorial part 1. When I tried to continue my game Cossack's refused to load because it stated that my screen resolution 1024x768x8 cannot be found. That's odd as It allowed me to play moments earlier. Also noticed there was a spelling typo in message dialogue box 'Dilplay 1024x768x8 not found. Cossacks should not be run.' with a 'Retry' and 'Cancel' button. And the close 'X' button top right corner of this box. Has the games or Steam been hacked? I bought a lot of games recently and if I am unable to play them I will have no choice but to seek a refund. I also discovered That MS want me to subscribe for 'RSS Feeds' relating to MS products makes for an interesting read. It appears to me that in order to play my games I got to go through MS and subscribe to this feature NO WAY!!! the very thought of paying for a subscription service in order to view my games and play them, also only to be forced or coerced into only using MS products and services otherwise they have control to manipulate my computer and prevent me from using third party software for which they may not get any income from has made me extremely angry. I keep getting redirected to their 365 product where by I was just merely asking for help with my pc screen resolution issue. I can only get as far as the opening sequence of Cossacks and make my initial selection. resolution is greyed out so cannot make any use of it. sound is initially high also game scrolling and game speed. But these I can change, and once done, select the crossed swords icon with the flag poles on, clicking this, It will either go straight to desktop, or I get the message popup dialog box. Another thing I encountered, was it wanted me to change from win 10 home to win 11 when redirected to MS help and support. I not done this! As some of my games are old but not all of them! And it appears to me, that I'm being forced to upgrade, not only with MS software, but also my system. I was going to buy a newer system like PS5 or XBOX X Even a new Desktop PC but If I can no longer play my games on any of my systems, that I already own. Why should I even bother!!!!? Let's take the possibility of buying a new system. Why should I? As now you won't need them anymore! as they are being phased out!!! for subscription only services!!! Whereby you could/may be able to play any games, as long as your subscribed to the website, that has your game on it. If your a gamer like me you might find yourself subscribing to several or more sites for $20-$40 or more per month even at $20 multiply that by 7(The number of different websites 1 per game) and you could be paying $140 per month. This get's very expensive if you don't play 24/7, even at $20 per month. And if you don't play regularly, and play for 3 months out of 12 it could have cost you $20 x 9(number of months not played any games) which is $180 and you don't see anything for the money. Let's say all the great developers were bought out, which is on the rise, if not done already. The subscription sites could/would now have a monopoly on the entire games market. And if you want to play a game, and its only on their site, they might up the ante/cost to you for the privilege of doing so. Note the $40 earlier as an example, well at $40 x 9 (The months you do not play) is a staggering $360 per year for absolutely nothing! Just so that you can keep the service your subscribed to open. It's only been recently, that I can no longer play on my PS4 and my XBOX ONE. I have gone from playing everyday, to not playing any games at all!!! It's been nearly 4 months since I last played on them !!! They are just bricks now!!! I would still really love to play all my games I got on them, but alas I am being prevented from doing so! GRRR! And now, because I have reverted to my PC for games more so now. I am also being prevented from playing them too!!!! GRRRR! Sorry for digressing, back to my main point, and that is I feel that I no longer have the freedom to play what I want and on what system I have anymore! Steam would have been the go to place for my pc games! and it still is even for my consoles too! I thought at last I can play some games but sadly no! It was good for a short time a couple of days since purchasing my new games! And so with this in mind, I looked to see if other gamers were having issues with there systems. I mean could it just be me that's effected or it's the same for everyone else too! well when I looked, the issues were common and varied. System failures, Green screens, Blue Screens, Black screens, Missing files, 'NOT WORKING', 'Bootup's/Startup's and Shutdown's, Opening/Closing files Error messages galore!!! I didn't even know my system was suffering from such 'DEPRESSION' and 'HANGUPS' maybe its not a computer technician I need more like a computer psychologist!!! If I cannot play the games I bought will be seeking a refund for those games which fail and if part of a bundle and the other games play then maybe a reduction in the price with a refund to reflect this or if the game is an integral part of a series, whether in a bundle or as separate item, then a total refund will have to be made, reluctantly, as was looking forward to playing them so much!!! And since I have bought a lot of games, it will take sometime to check them all, to see what is playable, and what is or is not supported anymore . If a majority of my games wont let me play them, then that's it for me, as I will not!!! WILL NOT!!!! be forced into a subscription to play environment, period!!!! This has a knock on effect because I only use the internet mainly for the purpose of playing my games and if I can no longer do this then I will cancel with my IP they wont be to happy with that. As everyone is cutting their cloth, because of the recent fuel hikes and the current situation which effects us all at the moment. My electric has gone up at lease 4 times and is going up again in the near future, and so I will be forced to like everyone else cut back on those things that I can do without, however, I will miss playing my games. As it what gets me through the day, and some tough times!. And so will have to find other alternatives. As more and more of us make cutback's because of the ever increasing fuel prices and eventually businesses could fail, if public spending was reduced to critical levels, and only spending when they need to, for absolute essentials. talking of which, that reminds me. Do I really need a new pc or games machine right now? Maybe not, if things continue, as they are, for me anyway. Take care all and stay safe. =) Sorry for the long rambling's Just so you know I have a system disk backup already. But it wont help me as some files have been removed possibly due to an system update. The screen resolution should be in 8 bit but now its only available as 32 bit at screen display size 1024x768x32 to play CossacksI need 1024x768x8 screen display. I ran into problems before when trying to use an earlier version of windows and also trying to use the compatibility feature. I am thinking about moving away from a windows operating system based machine so if they are the cause of my issues with all the updates and less help and more restrictions on my system maybe it's time for me also to look for a new OS! Something I never even considered before or ever doing! =( Question, Does anyone play games on another OS and do you have similar issues with your games? Can you play games on a non MS OS environment? Is Intel or AMD reliant on MS OS to be present or are they native and any OS can be used perfectly with these processors? And what chipsets would be best? By now you would have guessed I'm looking into already making big changes. and to Steam, If I was to get a new system to play my games on, the fact that its a new machine, with new chipsets. Would some games not play? and based on my experience. What setup would I need to play all my games on whether the are old or new? for example some games require old tech environment to work, like an old OS like DOS, win 95, win 98, etc lols

Unfortunately there is no such a thing like universal solution to all those problems. Almost 30 years of game development has passed and different games require various tools to be played. New machines cut some of the old technologies because they are only needed for "outdated products".
