Linux support

Currently the Windows build can't be played on Linux via Proton (which is expected for games that interact with the desktop like this). It does launch, but the background is black instead of transparent, and the buttons can't be clicked at all

Will there be any plans for a Linux version in the future?

i second this!!! though i should add that some non-linux users seem to be having the black screen issue as well?

Got a solution from another thread. I'm using Proton GE and set this as the launch option:
WINE_LAYERED_OVERLAY_ALPHA=1 %command%

It's still not perfect, I have to set the window "keep above others" or "always on top" from KDE Plasma or Cinnamon. The menu is also not showing up when I hover over my character

doing the above fix didn't cut it for me, so i applied fixes from a similar desktop friend game and solved the black screen issue, however i cannot click on anything within the window. any ideas?

alternative/additional fix for black screen on linux:
- protontricks > this game > settings
- set X11 as graphics handler, remove window decorations
- go back > regedit
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\X11 Driver > create the following string values: UseAReadableVisual = Y, ScreenDepth = 32
- add PROXY_RENDER=1 to launch options

this has worked for me as well! i also have the issue of being unable to click anything within the window, i havent found anything that can fix it either (though tbf i am still quite new to linux >,>

It's working somewhat perfectly on my end (Arch KDE Plasma). Turns out the menu not popping up when hovering above characters was simply because I haven't completed the whole tutorial. My friend on Linux Mint (Cinnamon) also doesn't seem to have a complain so far

I'll reiterate on what I did to get it working:
1. Install ProtonPlus
2. Open ProtonPlus, install latest "Proton-GE"
3. Restart Steam
4. Inside Steam Character House properties > General, set the launch option to:
WINE_LAYERED_OVERLAY_ALPHA=1 %command%
5. Inside Steam Character House properties > Compatibility, check "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool", and set it to "Proton-GE latest"
6. Run the game

scratch my former post, i managed to get clicking within the window to work!!!

*though sadly my characters dont appear ontop of the selected window (spotify in this case) even though i have "always on top" selected in the game

You need to configure "always on top" manually in the window settings. It's Desktop Environment dependent, but you might need to know the keyboard shortcut to open window settings for a full screen app

On Cinnamon:
1. Click on your character (just to focus the window)
2. Alt+Space, check "Always on top"

On KDE Plasma
1. Click on your character (just to focus the window)
2. Alt+F3 > More actions > Configure Special Application Settings
3. Add property, search "Keep above other windows"
4. Set it to "Force" and "Yes"
5. Hit apply / ok
