Would a shard guide be helpful?

There's been a mushroom guide and a flower guide (possibly also a crystal guide? Not too sure) but so far I don't think shards have been discussed the same way.

It might be too big of an undertaking to map every red shard (there's just too many and I doubt It'd be that useful because of that) but blue shards and yellow shards locations could be good to share, but then again obelisks do already provide a reliable source to find them, so thoughts?

(also has there been a crystal guide yet? haven't seen one but may have overlooked it)

I wouldn’t mind a map of blue and gold spawn points. Most of my playtime ends up being solo (whether I want it to or not) and it’d be nice to know the best places to wander around for a chance at filling out those skins.

I would also love to see a guide on where to find the rarest shards, blue and yellow! Perhaps I can even help a bit map the spawn points in an area of the map.

This a very rough and rushed marking of the map with the spawn areas. I know it's hard to read and pretty bad, but just because you all talked about it, it made me want to at least try something.

If someone were to make a guide they would for sure need in-game pictures for the caves, mountains and more hidden areas.

Woah, that's fantastic Potato! Really appreciate your input and effort, it helps a lot!

I'll try putting together a detailed guide with locations for gold shards first and work towards blue shards next, It'll make the challenge a little more manageable. As It'll take a while to map each shard location with screenshots for visual aid, Potato's maps for each of the shards will be the best place to go!

Biscuit! Great idea. With a full 'scan' we'd all know the best areas to go. It's quite an undertaking though. Please tell me how to help. I'll take screenies of any gold/blue that I find. I just need someone tell me how do the co-ordinate thing.

Maybe use the Interactive Meadow Map by Nemo and c42? You can add coordinates there and have a more exact location on the map. It would make life easier for marking the spawn areas on the whole map.

Ps: Machu, not sure if you mean this but to get your coordinates in-game just Left Shift + G.

Perhaps we could split ourselves by map areas and collect the locations/screenshots of as many shards as possible? And then collect all the knowledge in a single place (perhaps a map?). Or do you prefer to start working on this by yourself to figure things out better at first, Biscuit?

By the way, I really like how this mushroom guide points out the spawn locations in a rather clear way on Nemo's rough map. I don't know if it would be possible to do something similar for the shards, since there are much more.

Heya! So right now I'm just taking photos of each location whenever the shard shows (for proof it spawns there) and I'm gonna try to get anyone who's interested in helping, such as Machu and Potato, to do the same. What's needed is a good open view of the shard and the space around it so It's easier to understand! Jotting down coordinates is ideal if possible too, as it'll give greater clarification and I'm hoping to make this quite spot on

We'll be using Dropbox to organise these photos by location and once that's done I'll be putting it all together while adding some additional tips and info to do with shards (such as respawn times)

Regarding the mushroom guide I imagine once done this will be similar. I'll try to make sure it won't look cluttered or confusing

Edit: I should've mentioned, right now the best course of action is for areas to be dedicated to specific people so we won't accidentally double up! As more spots are covered we'll probably need to recheck nothing was missed by referring to each others photos and communicating on spots we know shards spawn but haven't shown yet

Ok after recording ma first few, I wondered if all areas might need multiple passes anyway? Then as you see holes in the data, you can direct us to areas that need more attention? just a thought
