Deer?

I've seen a ton of deer around as i've played, and i've seen literally nothing on how to get them/what they are. Anybody able to say something about that?

Hey there!

The "deer" is actually a goat (with fancy skins)! You can unlock it by simply playing and collecting essence/crystals, the same way you unlock all the base game (non-DLC) animals & skins such as the rabbit, frog, fox, etc.

As Rhaonoa said, you will want to collect crystals (specifically Gold/yellow ones) to unlock new animals.

not all animals can be unlocked this way, some animals require a specific Shelter game to unock.

However, this is what you can unlock for free through gold crystals (in order of how you unlock them):

Frog
Rabbit
Goat
Fox
Pheasant

Hey hey, it's not "just" a goat! :D It's (supposed to be) a chamois - a very particular species of mountain goats. In some Slavic languages they're called divokoza - "wonder goat". Search for some vids of them climbing, they're awesome and beautiful. (Signed, Genghis the goat)
