First impression of the DLC.
Already at the first mission and got my♥♥♥♥♥handed to me. Glad to see that this is the Syrian Warfare that we all love when it comes to challenge.

First, the voice acting has improved a lot! the devs definitevly came a long way in that area!

We can see that the AI is more dynamic now overall however, the "scripted" AI is still extremely dumb (they just keep moving while getting shot at until they reach their destination)

Just from the first mission we can feel that there is a huge battle going on all over the map, in the original game it was like a succession of Janitor job missions where you have to clean up ISIS waiting calmly to get decimated. But this time, oh boy the AI will always find a way to destroy your♥♥♥♥♥by driving all the way to your flanks with civilian vehicles. Yes you read it right, trucks and mother♥♥♥♥ing vans that are scattered around the maps. ISIS will ge in them and drive them all around the map trying to overtake the players into taking defensive buildings. Now finally transport vehicles are extremely important! That was absolutely amazing!

I am happy to see that they buffed technicals speed, they are hard to hit with ATGM when they are moving! Good for scouting.

Now that being said, i am sad to see the vehicle pathing is stil garbage. It has been improved compared the original game, but THey really, really need to fix asap because it feel like a thorn in this game potential.

This is my impression of the first part of the first mission. I can already imagine at least 2 hours just to finish the first mission since i spent like 40 minutes just to finish the first part of it (where i have to save the general).

I am looking forward to seeing more!

Yes, global AI is probably good (I don't know, didn't play enough yet to judge) but units AI and pathfinding is still a pain.

I finished the first mission in less than 50 min, but honestly idk if it was luck or the fact that I like warfare games and adapt , but all in all at some points I thought my main lines of defenses where about to collapse due to a lack of manpower or simply lack of heavy weaponry until the very end that the last wave came and even then a few ISIS units got through and my 2nd line of defenses or reserves had to fight them off, but I did feel how its improved a lot in many areas and great fighting so far specially on certain ISIS units that are actually more realistic.

I heard they can even man player's vehicles if they can.

They maned a tank I left behind, but didn't chase me

Pathfinding is good. It's obvious that you can't expect your units to avoid enemy contact if enemy troops are scattered all over the map or you point to a position on the other end of the map.In fact I was surprised how good pathfinding is..I really like this new dlc, very challenging missions and solid dynamic ai.Keep up the good work devs.

What do you do in the first mission after evacuating the general and receiving reinforcements? I secured the North West corner and the South East, got the general evacuated, found the deserter tank crews and refueled their tanks, then sent the tank and BMP to repel the attack on the check point through which the general was evacuated. The Russian VDV and GRU have arrived. It seems the worst is over at this point and its time to strike back, so should I now just hold my ground a bit longer or should go on a counter-offensive? When the Russian SSO arrived with GRU and VDV troops arrived, they said something about needing to do air strikes on 3 positions where the enemy gather before an attack, and 3 yellow indicators appeared on the map, however when I went there all 3 of them were completely empty.

Those are ISIS spawn points. You don't need to send units into these areas as they will quickly get surrounded and get slaughtered.
As the mission says, the general wants you to hold the line after you have held the key points. I had my Tiger squads on the front line picking off BMPs and T54s storming the city before they even enter and wreak havoc on my surrounding infantry.
Just make a wall of defense starting near the mountain at the north all the way to the municipal's office at the south. Make sure put some few MG's, snipers, and infantry at the village because they have humvees and technicals that can bypass defenses, since these are too fast for RPG fire, and you have only 1 ATGM trooper (Tiger Forces themselves)
but fortunately you can chase them down with technicals with recoilless cannons. I used them to hit-and-run BMPs and tanks as their turrets are too slow to rotate.
