difficulty levels

is there a difference between realistic and ironman other that you aren´t allowed to save?

I don't know for sure, but I think realistic is a difficulty level, while ironman is a game mode. Aren't they different check-boxes? You can still restart levels though.

They are two different dif settings. Got my butt handed in damascus a bit on ironman so I want to start a new game on either realistic or normal but there is atm no way to tell of either realism is the same as ironman except the no save allowed condition or if realism offers a less dif.

Infantry seem to have less hp from what I noticed. Thats about it.

What is the actual difference between Normal and Realistic? The game description is vague. Is the enemy smarter on Realistic difficulty than on normal?
Don't know about Iron man mode but it must be like Realistic mode plus saves are not allowed.

Likely bigger opposition, less hp, less cp something like this. I started realistic and it feels the same as ironman. However since I discovered the ATGM helo Damascus was like playing on easy.

Really? I read from other people that helicopters are of limited use. I only just started the 4th mission in Damascus, seems like a difficult one.

As with other units, they are very powerful if used right, and weak otherwise. ;)

Perhaps it is true for the rocket variant because it is forced to do dangerous strafing runs however the ATGM variant was just insane. After getting the chance to buy one when you capture the supply depot first hand my tanks and vehicles basically had nothing to do anymore.

I know, I am on that mission now, but I am trying to do the mission with rescuing Nail and Masud from ISIS first, because that one is time limited. I managed to do that with a T-72AV, BMP-2, a BTR-80 and 4 various infantry squads. However the problem with that is that it triggered the bus mission immediately, and I have not had yet captured the supply depo from Nusra, as I think you have to go through it.
