Is this game dead?

The last post from the developer was 2 months ago saying an update would come within the month but it never came. Also the steam page says it was supposed to be out of early access by the end of 2016 but it isn't. I'm interested in buying this game as it seems like Diaries of a spaceport Janitor but on a much larger scope and scale and I'm really intrigued, but I don't want to pay $7 for a game that is gone.

Hi Karlos Pang I apologize to yourself and everyone else who is supporting the game for the lack of communication or updates. There was an update scheduled for the game at the end of November and was then pushed until Xmas but unfortunately due to other circumstances this did not happen. I am still working on the game and there already is alot of new content added for the next update, I completely understand your concerns however as many early access titles never see a full release but this will not be the case for Star Merc.
