how is the player base

one thing i love about souls games is sharing my journey with strangers or even friends
because all people i know irl are not gamers
so i want to know it it actually active ? or should i just focus on playing solo :) thank you

I passed the game solo because there are no more guests, almost no one plays this old game anymore.

I personally have been refraining from visiting players because I end up visiting someone on Way of the Samurai with my Way of the Nioh profile and can't do much for them while trying not to kill enemies or bosses too fast. Every time I try to visit on a lower level profile, I get nothing. Maybe it's just bad timing. I also cannot match with players opted into matching Epic Games.

I can duo with you or be summoned as a visitor, but I need to know the difficulty beforehand.

Dead, i' was never able to be summoned,summon anybody or fight anybody.

the only active part of the multiplayer seems to be passive clan wars.

I play on Epic, I mostly play as a Visitor, I can get a game more often than not, which is nearly always. Getting matched to my difficulty is another matter but it does happen a fair bit. I don't Summon, though, so don't know how many active Visitors there are. I guess, what region you are in and what time you are playing, will have an impact.
