OP Stats and diminishing returns
Think I'm going to re-spec my character again despite it's not something I enjoy but I want to give sword another go with more points to Heart and Strength to a lesser extent.

I'm curious to know about diminishing returns on adding points to Heart, Dexterity, Strength and Stamina on a Tonfa/Sword build wearing heavy/medium armor pieces. Is there an optimal value for these stats where putting more points don't add much value? For example, I have put 111 on Dexterity but can't ready more than 40 points worth of Ninjutsu or notice they do more damage except maybe last longer.

I also like to use some Onmyo skills but would like to know what's the optimal points where they can last for a reasonable time and be effective? I have got 51 for it now but am finding the skills don't last thru a boss fight especially when you are expected to dodge/evade more than attacking.

Last but not least, is there any added value in putting more than 34 for Spirit and what's the max points you would put in one Stat?

Cheers samurais.

For damage there is no reason you would ever want to stop putting points into scaling stats.

The increased duration on ninjutsu and omnyo items from having more points is hardly noticeable and not worth the points, gloves can have a stared stat that increases their time if you cast them at full health, also there is the omnyo MA that increases buff durations, I use both of these and my buffs last long enough for most abyss fights with only 30 magic/dex, unless there are yokai pools as debuff since these reduce the durations on buffs.

Spirit increases how fast your LW charges, at 99 it restores LW in about 2~3 enemies.

As said already the max you should put into a stat is 200 if it's one of your main scaling stats, I use 200Skill, 200Heart and 200Body, So I have maxed the main and 1 side scalling for Tonfas and Katanas.

Yep, I use axe and Odachi and I have 200 str, 200 Stam, and 200 body.

Thanks Zamus.

What's onmyo MA and can you fill up 40 capacities with 30 magic & dex only OR do you put more points in Spirit?

For stats that your weapon scales with, the effect is linear - every 3 point addition gives as much as the previous. Now, when at 4500 attack, adding say 10 attack is a smaller effect than adding 10 attack when at 500 attack.

For stats that don't impact weapon damage, going beyond 99 gives much fewer returns, if any. So for HP, don't bother pushing body over 99, etc.

quick question, is there anything that affects your dodge/evasion speed and distance? for example if having low weight will let you evade farther than with high weight.

edit: also whats the best way to reduce ki loss when blocking, i find that most big enemies or bosses cannot be blocked because of how much ki damage is done.

Agility determines dodge/evasion speed. If you're equipment weight is <30%, you're Agility A with very quick/long range evasion. <70% is Agility B, which is still quite good. <100% is Agility C, which is slow, but still usable. >100% mean overencumbered, and you're at a suicidal crawl.

There's a weapon effect, "Guard Ki Reduction." Other than that, blocking most bosses is a last-chance crutch that shouldn't be relied on; for most of them, dodging is smarter.

thanks, now if only i had enough spirit stone chunks to get it.

Spirit stone chunks are unrelated to agility, but they can be easily farmed in mission the queens eyes. Just kill two Kelley clones, collect your gobs of spirit stones, let the 3rd one ( or the yokai) kill you, repeat.

I wouldn't worry too much. The best I've ever found is 17.0%, which at max familiarity might be 25%. That sounds significant, but in practice it means maybe one more block.

For now I'd suggest just slogging through and relying on lucky drops; you'll spend a lot more money than it's worth reforging at this point.

Oh lol I'm mixing up the mat with the item. Nm I'm an idiot. :fardy:

So you farm The Queen's Eye instead of the Three Souls for spirit stones? What difficulty do you run? Three Souls on WotSt gives 3 Large Soulstones as a mission reward, but if Kelley gives a better rate I'm all for it!

correction to myself; spirit iron chunk*

MA = Mystic Arts, omnyo has one for instant cast on self buffs and faster cast on omnyo casted on enemies and another that increases the buff time of all items and skills, I really like the second paired with the omnyo helmet that increases casting time, buffs last long enough to deal with most bosses.

With 30 magic/dex I can easilly fill my 40 slots and still have enough left over points for passives, ninjutsu has very little and requires proper planning to get everything I want, omnyo has far more spare points I usually have several unassigned points after unlocking everything I want passives included.

I just do WOTD. I pop leaching talisman as the first clone pops out so they csn kill me easily after I kill the first two clones. Then I kill revnants by the entrance while i wait for the last clone to show or the yokai to pop outr. I can quickly kill 2 clones and 1-2 revnants in a run, which gives roughly 6 large spirit stones, a couple spirit stones, and usually get the purple spirit stone variant. After about 15 minutes of farming I easily have over 99 large ones, about 30-ish spirit stones and about 15 of the purple spirit stones. The yokai drops large stones too.

Thanks, except doesn't Body affect damage for tonfas, spear, etc.?

I see, also have Onmyo instant cast MA but had to put around 55 points on Dex to get all shurikens and passives (including the ones for range weapons).

Initially after respec, both tonfa and sword had slightly lower damage but increased after putting back more points on Dex.

I also found Focused Strike appears to have a longer range than Iai? Lol.
