Alternatively, small things that may add up:
* Toyotomi or Clan that increases amrita
* Finding kodama spirits and changing the blessing to amrita bonus
* Guardian Spirit that enhances amrita
* Amrita bonuses on your gear OR equipment drop / luck
* Any consumables that increase amrita gain
If you do equipment drop / luck, then offering nearly all your exotic gear or lower to the kodama shrine.
Missions that have allies can help on New Game+ and onward (Ginchiyo missions). I think there's one mission in the first region where you can more or less cast all the stealth ninjutsu, run to the objective (it is randomized) and loot it. Ginchiyo might defeat some enemies along the way.
Or if you're in the 6th region, there is a mission that gives you two NPCs who can clear out the enemies with you for relatively low effort amrita plus equipment drops to offer.
And if you have access to the DLC missions, there is one in the last region if I'm not mistaken with a tournament that can net amrita pretty quickly, albeit, may be on the harder side of acquiring amrita.
For me... simply going through New Game+ and onward, sneaking past as many enemies as I could, and clearing the campaign missions yielded so much amrita that I dumped most of it on the guardian spirits first before leveling myself (until the guardian spirit level cap was raised, then I couldn't keep them all high as I continued to progress.)
Each difficulty considerable increases the amount of amrita your earn per enemy killed, and you also gets to drop and earn as mission rewards soulstones that can give you over millions of amrita by themselves. Not to mention the sum you already get for beating missions and large amounts for completing the crepuscular ones.
Best way however is to just play the game, beat missions you haven't cleared yet and collect hair locks. More fun than farming.

At this point you will probably unlock the last mission and be strong enough to complete it. Just make sure your weapon is at least level 150+7 or higher(+10 is max for this difficulty) and all your gear devine(not as important). Your character level doesn't matter. When you beat Way of the Strong repeat all this for Demon, Wise and then Nioh. Just check online what's the highest equipment level for the difficulty you are in and try to upgrade your weapon close to that level and you should be good.
If you completed all missions in your first difficulty including the dojo ones for spear, sword and dual swords, it should unlock more sub missions including Marobashi. For Way of the Strong you have to do all of it again to unlock it so it's not worth it but for Demon and onward you only need to unlock last mission to unlock all of them. Which means at Way of the Demon, Wise and Nioh, if you aren't strong enough yet to proceed, Marobashi mission is your best place to farm both gear and amirita with paralysis build which is op against them. In Way of the Nioh for example, you get almost 2 billion amirita for completing the mission and it only takes a minute. That can be enough amirita to gain 6-8 levels at first, depening on your current level.
Good luck, have fun.
