Maria boss fight seems like complete BS

First time playing through the game and this boss fight feels cheap AF. She can choose not to stagger and just go for a grab move through my attack which one shots me, or sometimes she'll stagger, so it's a coin flip, maybe I do dmg, maybe I don't....

Then when she gets to phase 2 she doesn't stagger at all, except very rarely, sometimes I hit her twice and she'll stagger sometimes she'll just attack right through it. So all I can do is very slowly poke her to death 1-2 hits at a time the entire phase. Maybe some ppl love this but this is a ♥♥♥♥ boss design to me.

Not to mention it's NG and she 1 or 2 shots me; what's the point of NG+?? She gonna kill me faster than 1 shotting me? Apparently if I can beat her on NG I can beat her on any diff because I don't see how in the hell it could possibly get harder than it already is.

she is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but you can easily just cheese her and just pretend this boss dont exist. not a big fan of this boss design either, one of the worst.

I did it legit w/ no cheese, had to dodge damn near every attack in the 2nd phase and poke her to death 1 or 2 hits at a time, took forever. Worst fight in the game by far. Don't get me wrong, I like the game and I'll keep on playing but the fact that I had to meticulously learn her moveset and fight the 2nd phase damn near perfect w/o taking a hit on the first playthrough is ridiculous.

Edit: Not to mention, TRASH for loot, got absolutely nothing for my efforts. That was the most unrewarding/unsatisfying boss fight in the game by a country mile.

u can of coz clear her legit too, its just that if you ever find her annoying, just cheese and get over with it sometimes.

the loot wont get any better till ng+++ onwards. you can practically just dissemble most stuff.

endgame dont rely on loot, but rather finding smithing text, forge them and defile them in abyss.
sounds troublesome but its not rng reliant.

So how's the Abyss work? Is it worth doing on Way of the Samurai or Way of the Strong? Or should I just ignore it until later?

after u clear queen eye on wotn then visit it, pre 30 is just pure waste of time in the sense that you most likely wont get quality loot.

To be fair, I kind of hate all the boss fights from the DLCs. The only one I had an enjoyable experience with was Nine Tails.

Don't really consider Jin a true boss, and Sarutobi was... okay I guess? Didn't really enjoy them though.

(and by true boss, he wasn't part of the main story line)

I liked centipede date even though he trashed me over and over.

But yeah Maria is pure BS. I can trash most bosses on WOTN and WOTW Maria is still a struggle for me. Hell, I even beat WOTN dragon ninja on my 2nd try with minimal cheese but Maria.. I haven’t even attempted her on WOTN.... I’m absolutely dreading facing her in the abyss...
