Ki demolition build?
So yesterday as I was getting the last few missions to unlock Queen's Eyes on WotN, I summoned a visitor to help with one of the side missions where you need to kill 2 waves of 2 Onyudo.

I was trying to keep the onyudo separated so my visitor and I could separately tackle our respective foes, so I didn't really see what they were doing, but whatever it was, they absolutely demolished the ki of both onyudo both times - as in they got the ki to zero absurdly quickly to stagger them. It was super easy and I was very happy to have a great visitor, but I am wondering how the heck they pulled it off.

Are there builds that really focus on ki disruption? On most yokai with dual swords I find I deplete their life and ki bars at roughly equal rates - although it varies based on what kind of enemy. Obviously enemies with weak points are easy to ki break, but I don't know of any weak point on the onyudo, unless I've just totally missed it.

Onyudo are particularly subsceptible to Onmyo-related Ki breaks. Nine-tail's Guardian Spirit talisman can often insta-break them, and the 2nd tier Wind spell (can't remember the name, but it shoots 5 spears of wind ahead) are also very good at the task.

Inflicting 2 elemental status ailments on Yokai enemies, instantly drain their ki to 0, Onyudos are particullary weak to elemental damage other than the element they are imbued with so it's extremelly easy to get them inflicted.

Since starting WotW, I cannot use Guardian (Kato) talisman against some yokai. Is this intended b/c some are immune to GS or fire and how can you tell when the talisman cannot be used?

You can always use the talismian unless you do not have a GS with you, there are fire resistant enemies but the KAto still works on them, it will just do close to no damage as well as very little to no fire build up.

Strange b/c when I pressed on shortcut key for Guardian talisman, I get a "doing" sound and nothing triggered?

Did something debuff you with Sludge and lock out your shortcut keys?

The only build that I used which was good for ki dmg was odachi high stance with ki dmg buffs. It wasn’t super amazing but breaking enemy ki happened consistently. I think high stance odachi might have inherent high ki dmg. I dunno tho. All I know is that I’ve never really been able to consistently break ki since I stopped using it.

Tonfa are supposed to be pretty good at Ki Break, but I've never really fallen in love with them.

Do you mean something like Sticky Pot that prevents enemy from changing skill or use LW? If so, I won't be surprised b/c red yokai can paralyse me with one hit :/

I have yet to try the gun sticks. I actually just got my first pair the other day in the abyss. I used to keep a pair of tonfas handy when I ran my kusarigama build for revnants and humans that were an actual threat for that focused strike cheese lol.

Tonfas are ok, my only beef with them is how easy it is to miss an entire combo from an enemy sidestepping once. :/
