Can someone help me decipher the ridiculous stats? (no guard break [crit]) etc
My biggest issue with Nioh is its absurd loot, with so many confusing and long winded names that are never actually explained. Can someone help me decipher these?

Dodge ki usage (crit) - doge ki reduction is obvious, but what does crit mean?
ki reduction (crit)
close combat attack (crit) - again with the crits
no guard break (crit)
vs fire - what vs fire? Is this a raw defense, or added armor rating?
change to defense magic - magic defense? But is it changing part of the existing defense rating to magic, or adding additional defense rating for magic?
break - no idea
ninjitsu damage bonus - does it add damage to the weapon its on based on your ninjitsu power, or does it increase ninja tools attack rating?
close combat attack (fire) - 40% fire damage sounded awesome, until I used it and saw it didnt even do extra damage, let alone any fire damage. Its pretty straight forward though, dont get it.

close combat attack (enemy muddied) - what the hell is muddied?
CC attack (enemy attacking) - a boost only during an enemy attack animation?
increase attack (timely guard)
recurrent damage from fire
received damage from attack (critical) - why would a 10% increase in damage from being attacked be a good thing? Also seen increased damage from matchlock weapons, but it seems absurd that a beneficial stat would be bad, so I must be misunderstanding this.

Crit = when your health is critical (i.e. your health bar turns red).

change to defense magic - magic defense? But is it changing part of the existing defense rating to magic, or adding additional defense rating for magic?

It makes your defense scale based on the value of your magic stat. It adds on top of whatever else your defense was scaling with.

break - no idea

How much ki damage you deal to a guarding foe.

ninjitsu damage bonus - does it add damage to the weapon its on based on your ninjitsu power, or does it increase ninja tools attack rating?

Increases weapon damage based on ninja power

close combat attack (fire) - 40% fire damage sounded awesome, until I used it and saw it didnt even do extra damage, let alone any fire damage. Its pretty straight forward though, dont get it.

Are you sure you don't mean Fire Damage (Weapon) 40%? What that would do is increase fire damage of your weapon by 40% assuming it was already enchanted with fire - for example by an onmyo talisman.

close combat attack (enemy muddied) - what the hell is muddied?

The earth elemental debuff. The debuffs are:

Fire - Scorched
Water - Saturated
Wind - Blustered
Earth - Muddied
Lightning - Electrified

CC attack (enemy attacking) - a boost only during an enemy attack animation?

Yes.

increase attack (timely guard)

Gives you a short buff to attack if you block at just the right instant.

Anyhow, many of these are explained ingame (although some translations suck). If you go to your inventory, there is a "help" key on the bottom which allows you to cursor over each stat and get a description of what it does.

Thanks! I was wondering about this stuff myself.

So the change to defense (magic) stat adds an additional defense amount that scales on your onymo magic power? And its just general defense, not defense against magic attacks?

And does anyone know the number values behind things like that and ninjitsu damage bonus? A C- ninjitsu damage bonus is vague as hell because it doesnt explain what/how much C- rating is, and the ratio to which it scales with the ninjitsu power stat. And for the magic, what is the actual number bonus for change to defense magic C, and is it even better than the basic +5 defense stats? Wish the game would actually show numerical values for individual stats.

When/where are these explained in-game? Ive scoured everywhere and found nothing, and based on the amount of people ive seen that are confused with these stats Im guessing it isnt explained, but if its true where can I find it?

Also does anyone know these two:

Weaken melee weapons 21%

And I finally got a weapon with actual fire damage, it says Fire 11. Does that mean it does 11 fire damage per hit? Or is it some arbitrary and cryptic number that actually means something else?

Trying to determine which of these two is better for a weapon.

Weaken melee weapons is a fantastic debuff that drastically lowers the damage of an enemies weapon - the 21% means you have a 21% chance on hit to land that debuff on the enemy.

I think 11 fire damage is roughly 11% of the weapons base damage added as additional fire damage - you'll see two different damage numbers when you attack. Repeated attacks will also burn the enemy, dealing additional damage over time. Landing two elemental debuffs on an enemy cripples their defense and ki recovery, so that is a point in fires favor.

Both can be helpful. Weaken melee will work wonders for your survivability, and elemental effects are always helpful for killing faster. You may even keep the fire weapon as your secondary, as there are a couple enemies that are VERY weak to fire and are kind of a pain otherwise.

Weaken Melee Weapon is a status ailment that heavily cuts weapon damage. The % is the chance you have to inflict this status ailment with every hit.

There are five Elements, Fire, Wind, Earth, Lightning, and Water. The +11 is the intensity of the element, which controls how much elemental damage you do and how quickly you inflict the associated status element with that weapon.
