Repetitive levels?
Thinking of buying while on sale and I'm watching a few reviews. So far every review is mostly positive but one thing that is mentioned is that you revisit the levels a lot. Is this really as bad as it sounds? And can you make your guy look like and play like a ninja?

Each region has 3 or so "Main" missions, which each have unique designs and layouts, and often introduce some new element (new environmental hazards, enemies, etc..).

Each region also 5-8ish "Side" missions, which are often set on the same map as one of the Main missions of that region, or on a small number of other layouts. These Side missions often do not introduce new enemies, but have some gimmick that makes them different.

A lot of the complaints about repetitive level design are about the Side missions. It's a valid complaint, but I happen to think that the strong gameplay, in-depth character progression, and loads and loads of things to do easily outweigh it.

In the end, it comes down to your personal preference. This is _not_ Dark Souls, where environment and the open world were considered more important than coherent story-telling.

Thanks for that information, doesn't sound too bad at all. Cheers.

there so much content and the combat is so good, plus this pc version has all teh dlc, so no i dont thik you need to worrie about repetitive levels. and yes side missions you dont have to do btw. They are story lvls you already beat but set up different. but tbh if u like the game i really dont think it matters.

It's definitely something you'll notice on side missions - which, if they are not played on a variant of a main mission map, are played on one of about six "side mission" maps. The Abyss, the final end-game 999 floor dungeon / boss crawl, also reuses a lot of parts of earlier maps.

That said, while it is a ding against this game, the rest of the game is more than sufficient to make this an excellent purchase, even with the reuse of maps.

As the guys said some sidequests use the same levels with a twist, but the game has so many awesome maps that you won't care much if you enjoy the game.

Apart from re-using same map in sub-missions and fighting same yokai (demons) & bad people iteratively, you will also run thru the same missions in NG pluses where enemies get higher HP and are more challenging.

Initially, I thought this will be boring but am now playing in NG+++ to level up my character and get better gear to be familiarised. I don't like rushing thru a game and enjoy playing with others from time to time.

This is answered quite well up above, however I've payed a lot now, and I don't find the reuse a bother at all. Hell dark souls original was a single big map that you went over multiple times..... I think with the PC edition of Nioh you'd have as much map area as dark souls, however nioh mixes up the pathways/starting/ending points for different missions that are utilising the "same" map. I enjoy those nuances, while still knowing the general features of a map, but working through it from a different angle, or with paths cut off that you used previously :)

Well the point of DS is your part of a interconnected world. While nioh is more straight forward levels. That's kind of my issue they are all pretty similair, outside of the ninja house that's probably the best level in the game. But as others stated the game is about combat and loot not the plot or cohesive world.
