Nioh won't start after today's update. Will try reinstalling
After I installed the update, a moment ago, Nioh will no longer start. I played the game last night without any issues. I tried restarting my computer and I tried starting the game through Steam Library as well as starting the game directly by clicking on the Nioh icon.

I have advanced all the way through Way of the Nioh, having defeated most of the regions except for Omi. I have a Xeon 2660 processor, Windows 10 Pro (2004 and all updates for 2004), 32gb of ram, Nvidia p2000 graphics, and sufficient free space on both of my hard drives. The only thing I can think of that might be an issue is that Steam and the game Nioh is installed on a secondary old hard drive and not my smaller main ssd boot drive.

Like I said, the game was working fine last night, but not today after the update. Maybe I will try uninstalling and re-installing Nioh. Seems like a drastic step

The game will not start. I installed a new drive. So, now I have two SSDs. I reinstalled Steam and then downloaded Nioh. I click play and nothing happens. I have not had access to my game since installing the update on September 9th. Anyone else having issues on Windows 10 Pro (2004)?

Maybe next I have to update Windows

What happens if you try to open it directly from the game folder? Not the library where you press play, but the folder where the game is installed. Does it show an error?

Something went wrong in your patching process. When I was installing the update I noticed the Disk activity was high so I just waited and idled the PC. I knew something could go wrong, but fortunately all went fine.

Don't know why it it doesn't work after a reinstall though. Are you using some kind of Disk Caching software for your data drives? They can mess things up

patches on steam are just data what are changed.. then installer unpack files, inject data and pack files back.. thats why even 40 MB can make 20GB work with disk - because unpacking big file.. and thats why it took some time

First thing i tried.
Seems like the executable file is missed.... will try to reinstall the game, the file verification did nothing.
Great maj for something i will never use ,remember when steam allow you to not update your game....:steamfacepalm:

Same for me, too. Tried a few fixes I found on the internet but nothing changed. Too bad we lost a good game to epic yet again.

Hello,

1) I did not interrupt the download/install of the patch. On Sept 8th, game worked fine. On Sept 9th, after installing the patch, the "Play" button appeared. So, I clicked "Play" and waited and waited. If you click on my profile, you'll see I have over 1,000 hours of playtime. So, I understand what is supposed to happen when I click play.

2) "What happens if you try to open it directly from the [Steam] folder? Not the library ..." I just tried this right now. I went into my Steam folder on my secondary SSD, inside Steam > steamapps > common. Here there are two files, nioh_launcher.exe and nioh.exe. Bear in mind, I am currently logged in to Steam while doing this. So, I click on nioh.exe and it says "System Error: The code execution cannot process because VCOMP140.DLL was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem" and "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem" and "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found ..." and "VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found." So, these are the four error messages when I click on nioh.exe in the Steam folder, and there are two similar error messages when I click on nioh_launcher.exe (can't find VCRUNTIME140.dll and MSVCP140.dll)

Here is a picture of the sort of error messages:

3) "Are you using some kind of disk caching software?" There is nothing on this particular system except Windows 10 Pro (2004 with all updates), Steam, a fresh install of Nioh, two web browsers (Firefox and Chrome), and the Xbox controller drivers and Scarlet drivers for my DualShock3 controller

Try using this.[www.microsoft.com] It's from Microsoft. Either install or repair if you already have it.
If you have a 32bit Windows then use only the x86, but if you have a 64bit then use both the x86 and x64.
Tell me if it works.
Hebrews12_16 Sep 11, 2021 @ 1:25pm
Thank you and interesting. I installed the 64bit version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Update 3 RC. Then I clicked on the nioh.exe file in the Steam apps folder. Instead of receiving 4 error messages regarding missing files, I received one error message, saying "missing VCRUNTUME140_1.dll" So, now I'll try installing the x86 (32 bit) version. 1 moment

Guys/Gals, Thx so much!! I installed the x64 version of 2015-2019 Redistributable from here
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0

Then I restarted my computer and clicked "Run as Administrator" on the nioh_launcher.exe and then the game started. Thank you [symbols] and akill69, I added you both as friends :) Thank you for your help. Noeat, GecerliHedef, Doc Holiday I sent you a friend requests, too. I hope you guys/gals will be playing Elden Ring on release day! Hopefully with a good group of friends we can also journey far into that game.

Again, thank you everybody!!
