I think I'm misunderstanding. Did you play Nioh 1 first, then Nioh 2? If yes, if you try to replay Nioh 1 from the start to see how you fare.
I think Nioh 1 is mostly many systems being thrown at the player at once. And then the little things that can help are often not thought or are missed.
Like the skills and equip jutsu is not explained until after you clear Isle of the Demons. Where some players may have figured it out, looked it up in advance, or other things the game throws a bit of help with, but may not explain or prompt the way Nioh 2 does.
e.g. Paralysis Omamori (spelling) and Anti-Paralytic Needles for Hino-Emma, the Lightning Omamori and the roof against Nue, lighting the fires and Water Omamori for Ume-bozu, etc.
I was maining a kusarigama and I, for whatever reason, had 55 points in dexterity despite being level 255. I had no idea how i managed to beat the game + dlc but I did.
I think the main problem with this game is like you said, it just throws so much information at you at once so i probably just skipped it because i hate all this stat nonsense.
Burst counter and those special moves, core skills or whatever they're called, gives you so much wiggle room compared to the first game. I've been able to clear most bosses in 1 try, and then retry ones in less than 10. I'm in area 3 now so maybe it'll get stupid, but so far it's been a lot smoother... but then again I'm also getting to play at 120fps which is another big game changer. Nioh 2 seems to give you way more health potions more consistently. One thing I just realized after going back to Nioh 1 (unless this can be achieved by unlocking a skill) is that ki pulse to purify an area required perfect ki pulse. In Nioh 2, it appears that any level of ki pulse purifies. So there's a lot of little things that add up to making it easier.
one good and safe way to farm amrita is co-op/online.
They didn't have the skill to design a real challenging game like From Software so they chose to make it unfair. (one hit kills, staggering). Ninja Gaiden was known for this hence everybody stopped buying it. They panicked and started copying Dark Souls but still lack the talent to make good games.
