Inheritable Weapon Damage x2?
Greetings All,
I am working on my ranged kunai/shuriken Iga build and am trying to stack thrown weapon damage and inhertable dmg x2 from gloves. I am still on my first playthrough, but I'm having an issue forging/reforging this stat. Does this trait not roll until NG+? I don't want to waste time grinding for mats and gold if this isn't the case.

Thanks!

Ah, yeah I wasn’t 100% on that. I’ve never ran a kunai build.,

Ok, thanks to the both of you for clarifying the difference between the bonuses...yes, a lot of it is in between the lines. I figure I will go as light as I can for as long as I can until I have to go heavy armor to survive the Abyss...unless there are actually light armor kunai throwing builds that can actually clear up to 999. I love theorycrafting the game...and it is nice to have a sounding board to make that happen. I am pretty darn squishy right now, already, and I am barely on Way of The Strong. Still fairing OK, but thinking long term sustainability.

the build isn't in armor, the build is in skills / stats allocation. I had 5 armor (and ranged weapons) sets I was carrying for my kunai build and changed them depending on the fight. 2 heavy and 3 light. If you have correct kunai build you will be OP all the way into mid - end WotN and Abyss ~ floor 100, there's not much that can stop you missions wise. Maps with not much space to run around are super difficult, the rest are super easy.

understandable. I think in Nioh ranged are defined by how one would be trained in RL to use a weapon.

If you're trained throwing knives this would not make you good with guns for example. If it were me, I'd also separate guns and bows. Being good with guns does not make you err... anything with bows. Bows are super difficult to master. This is the reason why crossbows took over eventually. Besides ability to penetrate armor due to weight of bolts there wasn't much training required for troops, where bowmen spent their life training and were expansive to lose in battles.

I was light armor dragon ninja build in abyss from floors 600-999. Like Montego said, your success will be in your skills and what you learn. In the abyss, you can run full god of war set and still get one-shotted.

Imo, A agility is the best way to go overall. It teaches you to avoid dmg all together and makes it easier to do so. The only exception to that (in my own personal experience) is using the LGG set where when you die, the enemy just set off your trap card and you hulk out on them.

Well, I think I will end up spending a few hundred hours on this game...I have already gotten my money worth. The biggest chunk of time for me is going through all of the crap that I pick up because I am worried I am going to miss something really good, lol. I am a hoarder, and my inventory management skills are disgusting.

I have A agility, A Ninjitsu, and familiarity on my gear. Right now I am averaging 7k-11k on my kunais so they are still tearing ♥♥♥♥ up. I am almost done with the DLC, then will move into NG+. I will tinker with the different suggestions of armor, and probably theorycraft a few different ideas. That is what makes this game so fun...and the fact that you guys are helping me out is a major bonus to boot. It is nice to have help. Thank you :).

My inventory management process:

Go to blacksmith > disassemble > highlight everything except items of the set I’m using > destroy!

I don’t care about inheritable stats as all my gear will end up with the 20% CCD inheritable or +attack

Accessories are the only thing I take the time to look at. I will keep accessories that have bonus dmg to enemies poisoned or paralyzed and if I find one with yokai dmg and Amrita gauge bonus I’ll keep it. But once I start getting +ATTACK (value) accessories, I will sell nearly every single one I’ve been collecting.

Yeah, I hope I get to that point. I keep thinking a piece of gear is good, or could be good in the future, so I have like 150+ locked Divines taking up space, lol. I might just throw them into my storehouse for now and waste less time on looking at EVERYTHING unless there is an armor piece I want to test out. I also just got my first Yasakani Magatama. Unforuntely, it didn't roll so well, but I kind of want to start mixing Iga with Dragon :).

My main toon has a massive amount of gear in storage. The problem is remembering what is in there. Cause most of the time if I wanted to make a new build, I wouldn’t even check to see if I already had parts, I’d just forge new ones and defile. My second toon is on WOTN and I’ve put literally nothing in storage.

The only things worth keeping, imo, is gear with good star stats. Like gloves with star attack (incredibly rare). I’d also hang onto weapons with good star stats and no inheritable stat. Those aren’t hard to forge but could result in multiple savescums to finally get to roll. Star stat armor other than the previously mentioned gloves isn’t worth hanging onto cause they’re so easy to forge.

I’d also hang onto EVERY ethereal grace piece you get until you beat WOTN as up until then, they’re very hard to come by. Ethereal grace ranged being the hardest to get until you can defile in floors 33+ in the abyss.

Other than that, the DLC set pieces are not the easiest to come by either as most of their smithing texts are a biotch to get. I killed gunstick boi over 25 times speedrunning that story mission before getting smithing texts for his armor and weapon.

Noted. I've been holding on to Inhertiable attack on gloves and x2 weapon damage thus far, in addition to inhertiables that are pertinent to my build.

When you are talking about "star attack" what do you mean? When do ethereal graces start dropping?

Oh, and the gunstick tonfa boi? I think I got the weapon smithing text the first time I ran it. :steamhappy:

he probably means something like: - this is rare if attack in 60th tier.
or maybe - also rare if it's 40.

For kunai build look for double star effects like: - this is rare forged gloves. I also was lucky with similar drops in Abyss treasure room.

And puzzlefox is right about "storage boss" - on my first playthrough I faced exact same problem - it was easier to forge than to look what's there.

I learned my lesson and on second playthrough I pretty much checked for star effects only on weapons, gloves and chest pieces. Star chest example:

Wow, holy crap. OK, that is really rad. I am looking forward to the challenge. I haven't had a game I enjoyed for this many hours in a long time. Path of Exile and Diablo 3 don't count, because they were just crack. I am getting more joy out of this, and more of a challenge.
puzzlefox 2018 年 11 月 21 日 上午 7:46
Glad you’re enjoying it ;)

Hopefully you won’t turn into a total build hor like me. I just switched again last night xD

Went from LOTBraves & li red demon to LOTB and yagyu but alas, I may have to switch again.. backwave makes things too easy yet too satisfying not to use lol.

I am almost done with the DLC and ready to move on. Some of the DLC missions are giving me tiny hiccups (Fk the arrow castle mission) but otherwise I am still sailing along. I want to start doing some set mixing here soon.
puzzlefox 2018 年 11 月 21 日 下午 2:21
Set mixing is where it’s at! I love trying different combos.

The arrow mission sucks. But I got really good at speedrunning it to farm gunstick boi for his smithing texts. His set is very good.
