Go grab a nice long sword pal, u can beat him with naked, just remember, touch him once then dodge, and clean the minions first, or u can add me and I'll help u, but it will be really unfair for him...XD

Already using odachi, already doing what pretty much everyone says - bait his attack, attack 1-2 times, dodge, repeat
I once got him to 50% HP but then those freaking heads spawned up and just stunlocked me from 2 sides -_-

The heads are pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. If you have blue toughness (200+) then they don't stagger you mid attack which makes them more bearable but even still those heads are among my most hated enemies. He isn't very fast so as soon as the heads spawn, sprint attack them and then evade away. Thats generally how to deal with those head enemies when other stuff is around.

Also living weapon activation has some intense knockback that you can easily knock people in the water with.

Was having trouble with him too at first but once you learn to parry his attacks its easy enough.

if you mean the revenant fight. piss easy. stop complaining. With both my Odachi, Tonfa and Kurasigama build I saw so many corpses I expected a difficult fight, but he's just as easy as every other revenant in the game you farm for gear.

if you mean the other bridge before that. Yeah fighting stuff with all the gaps too fall through if you dodge can get quite annyoing. Died once and was enough to get under my skin. But that was because I did the mission with Umi-Bozu before that. And that mission has such annoying map design where I died quite a lot from falling in the water for no reason. Still...carefull progression and choosing where to fight helps a lot then. Cept for 1 fight you find a decent spot without holes nearby.

wait what this boss is hard? All you need to do is bait his high stance strong attack(that double spin move) and hit him right after. I love fighting axe revenants the most.

I destroyed those heads by throwing big bombs at them after rolling over Benkei

If i had to hazard a guess, it's an homage to benkei, yoshitsune's loyal retainer and one of THE single most overpowered bridge guards in japanese history.

No, seriously, before yoshitsune met him, this guy's entire thing was preventing anyone from crossing a bridge by handing them their asses, he was extremely good at it, and it was said the bridge was lined with hundreds of swords from all the people he defeated, he took their weapons and planted them on either side of the bridge, he met all challengers and beat almost all of them.

How he met his end is even more badass, when yoshitsune's castle was under siege, benkei held an army and kept them there for days on end, they eventually shot him full of arrows

a few days later one of them had the stomach to approach an arrow riddled benkei and found out that he'd died a day previous,

standing


there are few characters more badass than benkei

even so making him a true to form boss fight does sound like something of a ♥♥♥♥ move,

Kinda reminded me of Dian Wei in Romance of Three Kingdoms who met the same end but without his weapon. Man had to protect his lord's retreat with bare hands and weapons picked off fallen enemies.

Or Zhao Yun who literally WENT THROUGH an army and LIVED to save his lord's only son.

hes benkei, i mean it took me a good few minutes to beat him on my first playthrough and all i did was heavy attacking once with odachi's upper stance as he gets stunned by it, you just need to know the distance. When he does the roar/rage thingy he will not get flinched so i generally just walk around wait for it to go off. he summons the fire onis around half hp and when he does that i just use lower stance to quickly fend them off and repeat what i did before, was ok. just very slow :")

Okay, battle of Ohashi bridge was nothing compared to Greater Demon Hunting with Sakata Kintoki.
That freaking Onryoki was 2nd phase from the start, and any hit from him was 1HKO for me(3k damage).
Sloth is really a nerve saver on this one

Can't confirm rewards at the moment.
As for conditions for it to appear, I'll just state what I've been doing:
- All side mission;
- Also all dojo 'challenges' that I had access to atm(if i recall correctly it was only novice level onmyo/warrior/ninja).

Have you done the sub-missions? Some of them are mission chains, like 'Finders, Keepers' -> 'Kanbei and the Overlord', 'Death to Bandits' -> 'Wreathed in Flames' in the first region - you have to beat previous sub-missions to unlock those. I don't remember what unlocks ether The Battle for Ohashi Bridge or Greater Demon Hunting.
