I have a question
I am starting to feel very angry and annoyed. I can't find out how to access the world map again. I started a mission so I could change my gear. Now I have no idea how to return back to the map you get after beating the first boss. Am I missing something? Maybe I am just having a moment of stupidity..

Look carefully, there are items for just that

You need to leave the mission, the items are at the BOTTOM of the list.

1stly, best place to manage gear is from the blacksmith & storehouse, starting point (press B) on the world map, not during a mission.

only thing you can change in a mission is what you bring /w you.

after you beat the boss (Onryoki) there should be a cutscene, & there you should default to the world map.

if you're stuck in a mission & dont / cant finish it, you need a himorogi branch item to leave the scene

Thank you. If I don't have this item, I am going to take a break from the game. I went back to the first mission to change gear, and don't think I want to do it all again. To me, this is a crapy feature to have in an otherwise amazing game..

Himorogi Fragment, not branch, you should have the fragment from the get go, you will lose amrita but you'll get back to the map

You can change your gear almost anywhere, just press the back/select button on your controller to open the menu...

It is exacly like Virsalus said, just press the Back button, change Gear.I change gear in Mission of Sacrifice it at the Shrine, it its enough to Level up ;)

Dont worry After the first Oni Boss you start to understand the Gamemechanic and it really gets a very good Game after that Point, well lets say the First Mission is a very Good Tutorial.

I figured all this out now. I didn't know you could access the menu from the start area/map, then I entered a mission to change up my gear. I honestly never saw any game before this set up this way.. I guess it is all trial and error at this point.

Thanks for the advice. I am grateful. But, if I was going to give myself advice I could have said it a lot better than a lot of your vague comments. I am not talking about all of you, but a few of you.. I would have said:

You can enter the gear menu from anywhere, including the map.

You have a Himorogi Fragment in you items that allows you to go back to the starting area, but you lose all your armita.

These guys pretty much said this.

I don't mean to come off as rude. I just think details are important when explaining something to someone who is new to something..
