Anyone else really dissatified with Nioh's difficulty philosphy?
This game reminds me really hard of ords of the fallen and dark souls II in terms of difficulty design. Difficult just for the sake of being difficult.

I'm thinking of giving up because all the bosses i fought yet felt really cheap for me. They take ages to be killed, and can yet one-shot or at best two-shot you with every of their attacks. Some attacks are really quick and have basically no forewarning. Also whats the point of them having a stamina bar, when they don't react to it all (expection is warrior of the west). Also the debuffs they apply are just ridicioulus overtuned.

I'm a huge fan of the dark souls series, and even through it has it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moments, it mostly felt fair. Also many of its more difficult bosses were really good in my opinion. For example i loved hard bosses like the pontiff, gael or artorias and the fights were always a blast for me, but in Nioh i just want to get it over, because it all feels so cheap. If i would summarize all the bosses i fought with a dark souls boss, it would be the ancient dragon from dark souls II- Extremly tanky, high one-shot potential, bad moveset, just a really unfun boss in general. Its the easy and cheap way to create difficulty. The bosses without the high hp and damage output, would be at best mediocre. Imagine bloodborne with these mechanics always inplay. It would ♥♥♥♥ on Nioh even more than it does already.

Perhaps im just a really bad player, but nearly always when i die, i don't have the feeling to deserve this. In Sekiro it also takes very long to kill the bosses and very fast to be killed, but the game gives you fair bosses with many options to avoid damage.

For those who are interested in my build, i use a odachi in high stance, yet it does pitiful damge, eventhrough i use one the highest level i can get. Also my armor-set is the best i can use without getting over 70%, yet it cant protect me from being one-shoted by any of those cheap bosses.
Most of my level-points i invested into vitality, strength, and equipment load.
Im currently at level 57 and stuck on the ice lady. What am i doing wrong?

I'm not your typical kaizo-hack player so the game isn't meant for me. If you disagree with me you can do it, if you write it in a constructive way. But Git-gud autists can leave their autism for themselves
But im hopefully not the only one who feels that way about this game?!

Also sorry for my bad english and for being perhaps too harsh.

I am also an Odachi user and I had not this problem you are talking about, of pitiful damage. I also didn't even pay attention to level investment, I was just leveling every stat uniformly.

One thing however I did pay attention to were the buffs/debuffs available on the Omnyo/Ninjutsu menus. Also, reserving Living Weapon use for critical moments.

Game is only feeling cheap now in the DLC. The first DLC boss I faced was insufferable, but he went down eventually.
Nioh only seems difficult because you are clearly trying to play it the same way you play Dark Souls. Vitality also isn`t a stat in Nioh. I assume you mean the Body stat. "Odachi in high stance" isn`t a build. This sounds to me like a classic case of inexperience. The game is only hard because you don`t understand the basic mechanics of how to play it. Practice and asking for advice works much better than complaining.

I wish I could give you some better advice. Unfortunately you spent your entire topic talking about Dark Souls. If you would create a topic about Nioh and list your problems maybe people could give solutions to your problems.
Boi I QQ'd hard from this game when I got it on PS4 when it was new and even I wasn't this mad. Literally learn to play and stop trying to be a zweihander STR build in a game that is only superficially like Dark Souls.
whats is a real build in this game then?
You can be cheap back. Watch a youtube video for builds and bosses.

Build usually refers to the Set Bonuses you are using. It could also refer to the goal of your build. For example, the goal of my build is to max out my Strong Attack damage. I am using 5 piece Kaido combined with 4 piece Susano.

So you could say I`m using a Strong attack build. Or you could say it`s a Kaido/Susano build. Both descriptions work.

I'm very satisfied with this new surging trend of difficult and fast paced third person rpg's It's one of the greatest things to happen in modern gaming.
Heres to Elden Ring, Sekiro 2, Bloodborne 2, Demon Souls 2 and Nioh 3

How about a new Ninja Gaiden? I know it probably doesn`t count as an Action RPG but I`d still play it. Assuming it`s good of course.

If you need one to get through Way of the Samurai you honestly do just need to git gud by learning how to play the game instead of trying to play it like Dark Souls. Unless you're deliberately investing in stats that provide no benefit to what you're using you will nearly always gain something for every point. The fact that you think "Odachi in high stance" is a viable method of play on its own indicates that you're doing something severely wrong. You have multiple stances for a reason. You have 2 weapons for a reason. You have ranged weapons for a reason. You have Jutsus for a reason. If you're not using every tool available to you and you're thinking about a build like it's even a thing before well past level 100 you're just going to get pasted over and over by enemies like Muneshige, Yuki-Onna, Giant Toad, etc.

If you're dying too easily, wear better armor and invest in HP. If you have ♥♥♥♥ ki, learn to pulse or invest in Heart. If your weapon isn't suited to a type of enemy, switch to an alt. If you see a gank, shoot some guys in advance. It's not that difficult.
Ah ok, the biggest bonuses i know out of my head are yokai damage reductions and extra ki damage on my attacks. As a second weapon i use a great bow, and no i don't have problems with regular enemies or ganks, just with these bosses. With odachi high stance i mean, that use the combo: two light attacks in high stance, followed by a heavy attack switching into regular stance, then ki impulse and switch back into high stance. I have big succes against npcs and regular humanoid enemies with this. I also invest into heart, and i do not have big problems with my ki, just with health and damge output.
And if i would use a heavier set, my weight would go over 76%, but it wouldn't change much anyway. Is a true tank build even possible in this game?!
Odachi high stance most certainly is a playstyle all on its own. It is the utmost best way to whiff punish enemies. The goal is to keep your equip weight below 70%, so you have great mobility and ki recovery, but still have decent defense in case you screw up(mistakes happen to everyone).

Bait the enemy to swing and miss, then hit them with quick attacks into the Twin Moons skill. Thats it. Game is over. You destroy everyones Ki, you break everyones guard, you slice every Yokais head so they fall over, its fast, you can revover out of it and back into a fresh attack quickly, and it does insane damage. Most trash enemies die in 3- hits, which is just one combo, some need a follow up, nbd because their Ki is gone anyways. Even best when you circle from the back, and employ buffs and debuffs such as carnage/steel talisman and sloth/weakness
I'll just go ahead and say it, because no one else is. If youre truly having a hard time with the bosses in this game, the best answer is Quick-change Ninjutsu, and Sloth Onmyo magic. Most Dark Souls purists hate sloth, and there have been many debates and insults thrown over its use. Those people can eat nails. You play the game the way that you want to play, and they can play the game the way that they want to play. If you decide that you would like to make the bosses easier, Sloth them down

thanks, i give it a try
Yeah, I forgot to mention Sloth, Quick Change scrolls, and Extraction talismans. The game becomes much easier if you have those. You might also want to consider using the Kato Guardian Spirit. I hate describing things as over powered but in this case I feel it is appropriate. Stat for stat you just can`t beat Kato. Of course their are a few exceptions to this rule but if you are struggling then Kato is what you should use.
