Why is everyone wearing Warrior of the West set?
I've been farming LOTS of revenants lately and literally every one of them drops only purple Warrior of the West armor sets. Is this some kind of bug? I thought revenants are supposed to wear what player wear. Or it's really now EVERY ONE is wearing this set? I mean, I wear it too since it's the best armor I can get now. So when I die I drop it too. Is this some kind of viral infection? :lunar2019laughingpig:

Remnants are people that died in those missions, which will almost exclusively be people like you currently going through the game to eventually reach endgame.
WotW is a set you can get super easily in the beginning of each NG cycle, it has alright stats and set bonuses, and parts of it are even used in some endgame builds. I think I used that set for a bit in my first playthrough as well. It's pretty much "good enough", and doesn't require you to do any kind of farming to get the pieces together, usually.

Yeah, thought that's something like that. But it's just funny that literally everyone wears the same set then xD

It’s abundant thanks to tachibana solo fight that’s available early on, so everyone has it. It’s the first easy to get set. And it’s a fairly decent set albeit very heavy.

It works well with the Futsunomitama which is an endgame NG+4-tier odachi with inherent lightning damage. Basically, some high level guy used a book of reincarnation to kill himself with both the set and the odachi at lvl 1, so that its revenant can spread the gear to lowbies to carry them.

Whoa, that works?! Iiiiiiinteresting...

*Facepalms* So -that´s- why I´ve had that equipment set + Odachi for that long.
Some player did a weird (but kinda awesome) thing to bring endgame-gear to beginners.
Oh well, guess I´m burning the lot of them, it´s been a lovely time, but this is clearly not how it´s meant to be experienced.

The Set drops normally within the first hours of normal gameplay. It's just the Futsunomitama that you wouldn't ordinarily see until much later. So no need to abandon the set, even if you feel like "playing by the rules".
Gear obtained through Remnants is scaled(down) to your character, so while the weapon in question here might be considered "endgame", it's still going to be outclassed by common drops around the next corner in terms of item level, which should matter to you a lot more than individual skills, at least early on. Of course you could keep getting upgraded versions of the same weapon through more Remnants though..

Just avoid farming all the Remnants you ever encounter if you're scared you'll get too strong, but don't worry too much about using the stuff you already have.

Thanks for the advice, but I was honestly really tired of looking at the set. ^^
Looking forward to seeing actual new stuff! ;)

I kill the revenants for the guaranteed equipment drop. This way, I can offer it, sell it, donate it or disassamble it and get nice stuff.

yeah revenants all drop it, by far easiest way to maintain a set bonus as you continue to level

I think there's also a Dragon Sword floating around the early game, it has bonuses to heavy damage and paralysis. I remember getting a level 20 Dragon Sword off a revenant and it was crazy strong, wasn't outclassed in damage til katanas were dropping at level 50s. Later in the game I found another revanant with the same Dragon Sword, same bonus stats and everything, only it was level 58 this time.

The dragon clan legacy lives on.

Took a look at both again just to confirm, bonus are the same: Yokai close combat damage, Paralysis, Strong Attack ki reduction, Strong Attack Break, and Ninjutsu Damage Bonus A. Really good sword if you manage to get it early game, but still rare and not as common as the Warrior of the West gear.

I honestly prefer heavy armor and tonfas.

Tonfas? "What are they good for?" xD

All the revenants I encountered with tonfas could, yeah, stunlock you with decent success, but the damage they deal was laughable =)
