I Was Hyped For Nioh 2 Until I Played This Again(A Nioh Rant)
I was hyped for Nioh 2 coming out next month so I decided to do another run-through of Nioh in celebration. However, after playing through Nioh again, I'm thinking I might not get Nioh 2 anymore. From everything that I've heard people say from the closed alpha/beta testing so far, they all say it's Nioh but with some new features. Which got me excited because I do love this game, but holy hell does it piss me off to no end.

I've beaten Nioh a few times, but each time has a considerable time gap between them so I end up basically going back into the game fresh. And it reminds me of just how "BS" I think this game is. The main campaign, going through the entirety of the game(not counting the DLC's) is an enjoyable experience. I get my Soulsborne-like challenges while having my Diablo-esque loot. My two favorite game franchises melded into one, what's not to love? But the community pissed and moaned that the game was too easy when it first came out because everyone used the Sloth Talisman to take out any challenge the bosses might of posed. Of course they nerfed it and that was fine. But when it came time to make the DLC they made those fights so absurdly hard in comparison to the base game, that going straight from the base game to the DLC feels like you skipped dozens of hours worth of practice you really should of had before attempting it. And it feels like the side missions are really only doable once you have a build going that basically just 1 shots everything.

And I have the Quickchange Scrolls and Sloth Talismans, but the more I use them the more I don't like using them. Sloth, back pre-nerf just felt cheap to use, so I veered away from that. After the nerf the duration of it is so short that by the time you cast it and get to the boss, 80% of it's duration has passed, which just makes it feel like it's more time wasted than it's worth. And the Quickchange Scrolls seem to do nothing but let me live 2-3 seconds longer, just so that I can sit there and watch my character fall from the heavens into a mob that is in the process of wombo-combo'ing my spawn point.

One of the big things I loved about the Soulsborne games was that they felt fair. It felt like the enemies had a set of rules they were forced to abide by just like I did. Every now and then the Soulsborne games would throw a curve ball at you with a boss that didn't fit into the "fair fight" camp, like OnS or Sister Frede, etc., but for the most part it felt fair. And if you had to fight multiple bosses at the same time, they gave you enough space to manage both of them, or one of them were slow or sometimes down right stationary, while the other one zipped around the room at you. You could exploit that and fight them 1v1 for a few before having to move again.

Nioh on the other hand throws you up against either bosses that hit WAAAY too hard for the stage of the game they're introduced, or throw double bosses at you where both of them are fast and agile while simultaneously not giving you what feels like enough room to manage them both properly. And bosses that have projectiles, like that Onriyoki they love pitting you against with the cannon balls he throws at you in the 2nd phase. You see it happen and you expect the ball to stay the course as soon as he reaches the end of his throwing animation. Nope, at the last possible micro-second he turns on a dime and hits you with the damned things.

I know I'll probably end up getting Nioh 2 on launch day anyways because I'm a salty masochist when it comes to the games I play. But if they copied the same exact formula that they used in Nioh 1, it's seriously going to tarnish the over-all enjoyment of the game for me. And I'm not trying to speak for anyone other than me, because I know there are people out there that want a game to bend them over the table until they love it, so this was just my rant. If you want to know what spurred this on and why I just berated your eyes with all of this, it's because I rage-quit trying to do a side-quest that I felt was complete BS after having gotten my butt handed to me for 4 1/2 hours yesterday trying to farm smithing plans off of Sarutobi.

I'm about to finish nioh pretty late for the first time.

Just tried the final snake boss three times before bed and suddenly lost all interest in the game 😆

Nobunaga felt arkward because he throws too much sh*t at you in a too small area. So i went full onmyo and finished him with living weapon.

It really feels thats the only chance in many late boss fights.

I did the onmyo master mission and killing the nue was so tedious....

Kelly was pathetic af and then they put such a stupid gimmick boss in as a final boss.

I had so much fun with other bosses like the obsidian samurai and the combat in general.

On the other hand you have this revanant "boss" in one of the late submission with unsurpassed health and the fight gets so boring.

I have mixed feelings with this game. its unique and fun but at times it feels boring and tedious, repetative and lazy (like using same areas in different regions😅)

The way you talk about the dlcs i should better not try them😆

Demon King revealed isn't the last mission, and the snakes aren't the last boss, and DLC also exists. It's all very good content including a few more game cycles. Don't blame you tho.
Well if you search "nioh final boss" you find him.

If you like it its fine. I also like most of it some aspects just don't fit my taste 🤗
So i just finished the sneak heads boss, and the credits start so it is the final boss of the story XD

Yes some kind of epilogue, i start is just now after checking the sub missions.
Nobunaga and the ice queen, no thx XD
My problem also is that I'm slow. I'm 33 years old now, but I spent all but half of first grade in special ed classes because my brain just processes stuff too slowly to have been able to keep up with the teaching speed of normal classes. I don't think I'm dumb or anything like that, but I am definitely a slow learner. Where it takes a "normal" person 2-4 attempts at a boss to figure out all of their patterns and how to deal with them, it takes me more than triple that number to figure it out. And of course I have the typical "casual" mindset of "I don't suck, YOU suck!" when I encounter something in a game that kicks my butt left and right, until eventually I get so angry I "rage break" and no longer get mad anymore and can start seeing the flaws in my play.

My first ever playthrough of Nioh I'd have to say Hino-Enma was my absolute worst boss. I spent more time on her than any other boss throughout the rest of the game. Of course now a days she's such a joke it actually makes me a little sad I had such a hard time with her in the first place. I'm more or less one of those people who shine when they have time to analyse a situation before going into it, but gets easily upset if it doesn't go according to plan. And my reaction times are only going to get worse the older I get too, which for games like these you need to have a decent response time to things.

Even to this day, the Sarutobi boss fight in the DLC for Nioh still confuses me. Like I don't get how sometimes his grab will only take like 15% of my health away, while other times it will 1 shot me from full. I don't run buff builds or anything so it's nothing on my end that's proc'ing I'd imagine. Or like when I got pissed the other day trying to get the smithing text from him, there was one instance where I backed off to heal, and he threw his triple shuriken at me, then while I was staggered from that threw his sticky bombs at me and until I died he would keep me stun-locked by alternating between sticky grenades and impact grenades. Almost broke my controller on that one.

No, they're talking about going back to England. In the first region the boat should be red with a new main quest you can take to do the true final mission.
The actual final mission is the red boat in the bottom right of the Omi Region. It's a main mission.

I just reached the basement with teh kellys and i just wanna quit, its just no fun anymore.
The game well worn out its welcome
In fact i just quit. I cant stand the game anymore.
I really had fun most of the time but towards the end its getting more and more annoying.

These three kellys, they are not even a boss are just too much for me.
Also you gotta fight the stupid generic yokai everytime you try them.

Also the england lvl bored me from the first minute on.

I played for 82 hours, i have Saoirse back and i saw the credits.
If you ask me, the game is done. Its really just enough.

And only 23% even finish the game this far, not to speak of doing all side missions this far,
what i did too.

Great game tho. I had much fun most of the time.
I got it for 16 € on sale so i really got something for my money :steamhappy:

Pretty sure the yoki's stay in the tanks if you ignore them but yeah, pretty much every game has those same achievement stats btw where the end-game story achievements have low percents, it's not just Nioh. Good you enjoyed it to there, I guess it's better than forcing yourself to keep playing if you aren't having fun anymore.

Activate your living weapon and button mash the Kellys. If needed, break the empty containers to easily refill your living weapon. It worked on Way of the Wise with my level 1 character so it should work for you too. Do that to the final boss too if you have trouble with him.
