noob question about dragon ninja set

hi all

Yesterday Ive looted on a red phantom in the first world map a sword that is part of the “dragon ninja set”, the set bonus are very interesting for my dex/ninja character but it seems that the entire set is only farmeable on a dlc’s quest… so my question is: how the red phantom could have this sword so early? can I farm the set at this point of the game?

He either:

A: had already don’t the DLC, got the gear, and died while replaying a mission
B: farmed it off another revnant
C: cheated

thanks puzzlefox! but still dont understand... if "A" why he goes back to redo that old basic level? and if "B" how do the first revenant collect this set (oh, we got an endless logic loop here)?

can you confirm that I had to finish the game to collect this set?

If I remember right you need to beat the last DLC map on vanilla difficulty to get the set. You will then be able to fight against a certain character that can drop the set and or the smithing text.

There's also a chance the person is dying and leaving a revenant marker for his friend to be able to get the weapon.

aaaahr, didn think about friend's revenant... as far I can understand of nioh's mechanicns this it seems the most probable ipotesis...

And an added note, dragon ninja is one of the best sets in the game, if not THE best. Dragon sword Truth is ultra powerful.

And since the dragon sword is a katana, that adds to the ridiculousness of it cause sword is objectively the best weapon in the game. Backwave, flowing shadow, lai quickdraw, haze, and ki burst are just stupid powerful. I’m running a sword+tonfa (I’m not using dragon ninja, it’s too OP) build and sword gets used for most things, but the Tonfas attack cancel is really nice to have in the abyss where you’ll be in death arenas with enemies attacking you from all sides.

another vote for B - a friend or, when someone calls for visitor, that visitor could be any level and in any gear rarity, including etherals with ilvl 320+136. If that visitor dies on low difficulty and leaves revenant, this revenant and his gear would be downgraded by game to fit difficulty and everyone killing him and getting his gear would end up with low purples (or low divines if you completed The Demon King Revealed).
D. could be someone high level who reset his character back to level one to try something new, but used gear he already had.
