Nioh: Complete Edition

Nioh: Complete Edition

Zobrazit statistiky:
I don't think I can keep going with this game.
I must say I tried I really did. I have struggled since the DLC into NG+ with Nioh. I love the original game and was excited to play it. Then...the DLC. I was nothing but unhappy for most of it, especially the bosses. I feel I should mention I am a veteran to the DS series and I understand this game is different in its difficulty but seriously wtf.

I struggle to realize how anyone has legitimate fun with the ramp up that Nioh has. Its just utter BS at how stupid things get. The gear is a real tedium to upgrade and thats after you scratch your head at how it works as if the game expects you to know after its crap explanation.

I just don't understand how any of you who went further than the 350 level stayed with it. I constantly am out of money and just forgot about upgrading any weapon because it was vastly outperformed by the next level up. I ran ahead and was able to get to WOTW by myself but with much struggle and then I just hit a brick wall.

I started asking myself why was I putting myself through all this? It isn't worth 5-10 mins of bashing 1 Yokai, and being vastly underpowered. Its not with the grind to stay at a consistent power level. I'm not just not having fun anymore, im legitimately fed up with this game's artifical difficulty curve. Its not fun. I hate the parrying, and learning it was god awful, especially for the faster weapons and the window is absolutely stupid. And even then after practicing, im still only able to parry maybe a third of the time successfully. The reward? Not enough damage to be worth it instead of spamming the button to break KI or using skills to wind them down. Otherwise, a mistake is instant death and HEY I GET TO GO DO IT ALL AGAIN YAY.

Christ, I went from loving this game to wishing I had the hard copy to smash into a million pieces and wanting to forget it ever existed.

Sounds like all your frustration is caused by your build perhaps (well, experience too, but that will come)? I had this felling when I just started. Die more than 20 times to first Onryoki? I've done that. Getting killed over and over by Hino-Enma? Yep. I remember hitting level 40 in those caverns when every rev I came across was in their late 20th. How the hell did they pass? Later, I died more times to Saika than Onryoki and that is the easiest boss, easier than some trash mobs.

But now... oh the fun. I'm playing my second character because I was getting borred with my main.

So, are you done? Or, perhaps, you're ready for advise / help?
The difficulty is what keeps me playing. I e played and beat all the DS games and Bloodborne, and imo Nioh is harder than them.

This game has probably the most complex combat mechanics of any souls-like. Which to me is the most rewarding part. When you pick up some Tonfas and rock Kelley out with a 100+ hit combo and finish him off with a grapple roundhouse to the throat, I want to stand up and cheer... I still get frustrated sometimes, sure. But that just drives me to storm back into the boss room with furious vengeance and hulk out!

There is much knowledge of the game within the community and unlike the DS community, we won’t berate you with “git gud skrub “ comments, so if you wanna have another crack at it, we’re more than happy to help with advice or co-op.
Tbh, your issue probably lies in your build. If you’re struggling there’s probably a quick and easy fix. Certain bosses can also be made a heck of a lot easier if you know what works.

So, what weapons do you enjoy using the most? I’d be happy to help you put together a build. I’ve ran builds for every weapon except spear.

Ps: also, DLC difficulty scaling is weird. NG dlc missions are actually NG+ scaling. You’re not really “supposed” to go into the dlc without having first gotten to the end of NG+. They implemented the dlc with the expectation that most players were already vested in at least NG+. Plus the DLC gear sets are better overall, so it’s also a means to keep players from being OP in their next playthrough.. however, the mission Sanada’s Resolve is a great mission for farming gear. The elite humans and their revnants are easy to cheese and drop good stuff.

Like the people said, equip yourself better.

Be foxy, be sneaky and let no enemy touch your head.
Right now I'm running a smattering of things. I was running Hyabusa full set and dragon sword until it no longer was capable of doing proper damage. I am now running an Ethereal brute's axe for the set bonus but I use katana main. The katana is also Ethereal with wind, it just dropped that way and although I feel the katana blows, its the best weapon I have thus far with highest level and +22. The bow, also ethereal and katana are part of that set btw.

All of my armor except legs is ethereal with a 3p set bonus from vassal with a magamata accessory bonus. I have 24B, 30Stam, 99Heart, 38str, 99 skill, 39 dex, 25magic, 34 spirit.

I have read that putting the proper skills on weapons and attributes matters however, I don't want to make the same mistake I did last time by wasting tons of money just to upgrade a weapon or change it out with a better drop soon. I have been rushing hundred eyes so I can reach WOTN so as to farm levels/gear from that first area.

Understand this before any advice is given though. I absolutely refuse to grind for days at this point to achieve any further success in Nioh. I am done with that garbage. If its the build that is holding me back or something easy like you said. Great. I'm all for changing up my point of attack with some new knowledge but grinding...will not be it.

Thanks guys,
P.S. I am sure i also need to still git gud but thats always a given anytime

Ethereal doesn't automatically mean it's better than a divine. in fact, there's very little difference between the two. Sword is one of the hardest weapons to master, so don't get discouraged. Backwave and Haze are excellent against human enemies (yokai cannot be parried), and lai quickdraw is godly. Flowing Shadow is also very good.

if Katana is your main, then heart will be your main stat, then skill, then strength. Make sure you have enough spirit to get all the bonuses for the guardian spirit. 30 spirit is a good place to start. (guardian spirit Kato is the best spirit in the game. Use him! Secondary doesn't really matter, but I like Bisha Centipede a lot cause of the pierce)
ALL weapons should have familiarity damage bonus and close combat damage. You will want to put Change to Attack (heart) on your sword once you get one that is worth reforging (use umbracite to get the attributes. reforging via random rolls is super expensive).Weaken Melee Weapons makes life a lot easier as well.

Your side-weapon can be anything really, but with speccing mainly into heart/skill/strength, the dual swords will benefit the most.

for ninjutsu, make sure to grab Quick Change scroll. It will save you countless headaches. For Onmyo magic get carnage talisman, steel talisman, kekkai, and rejuvination. When using carnage/steel, use them in that order. carnage first, then steel. the carnage talisman gives you a defence debuff, but the steel gives you a defense butt that completely overwrites it.

Those are the quickest and easiest changes. I could go further into it, but I don't really recomment reforging and min/maxing until you're starting to get lvl 300 gear.

Thanks I'll start that route and see where it takes me. I am gonna take a bit of a break. I just got done trying that mission with the 3 ninja gankers that turn into the yokai ninja about 30 times dying with several co-op partners before I just got tired and quit. I was doing alright even after my partner died to one of the Yokai ninja but then ended up taking a stupid hit from one of their jumps that shouldn't have hit me at all. Its ridiculous sometimes...I feel like I know exactly where the hit should land and I'm bordering on knowing the effing pixel at this point that I can range to before going in. Then blam, I take a hit and its like the range suddenly just changed. Its super frustrating.
yeah i hear ya, some enemies are total bs. Especially the human LW bosses. If you're just trying to get to WOTN, you don't have to beat story missions, and the difficult side-missions can be skipped too. I'll be on later if you still need a hand.Plus there's plenty of nice forum folk who play during the day who are friendly and don't mind lending a helping hand :)
Could it be you’re not enjoying the game simply because what you run as a build does not agree with you? Do drastic changes, try completely different build and see where new route will take you.

Don’t want to grind? Always short on gold because spending it all on upgrades? There are many ways to skin the cat, I’m sure, though I can’t picture other builds than the one I’m using right now, coffee hasn’t kicked in yet, imagination still asleep.

I’m running kunai spammer build, which is completely gear level / weapons rarity free, meaning I don’t have to upgrade, my damage wouldn’t get any better whether my weapons are lvl 300+ ethereals or lowly lvl 150 divines, heck, I've killed Maria on WoTN under 7 seconds still mostly in ~lvl 200 divines and waaay underleveled. This means I sell most of my drops. This means gold. When I feel like it, I move to new gear, I don’t upgrade often; move, because all important stuff is in inheritables. What I do now is when I find or forge armor piece with good star effect, I take it to Abyss, defile it, 4 bosses later, some temper and soulmatch from my original piece, I’ve new shiny already fully upgraded.

Lemme know if you’re interested. If you're afraid, you could make a copy of your save and come back to it in case this doesn't work for you.
(I hope I don't sound pushy like door-to-door-salesmen...)
I guess it's still grinding, but the mission where you fight Otani and Ishida gives 2 mil gold on WOTW. It's a really quick and easy run if you have gear from WOTN. That mission on WOTN pays out 2.5 mil. I'm not sure how much it pays on WOTD, but my guess is at least over a mil.

I'm at late endgame (abyss floor 630-ish) and I am always tweaking my build and I spend stupid amount of gold. (spending over 50 mil per reforge session) and I never grind gold. I havent grinded gold since before going into the abyss.

but yeah, like he said, it's definitely worth a shot switching weapons up. I've ran everything but spear and my enjoyment varies greatly depending on my setup. My least favorite build was dual sword/odachi (the odachi was useless, it was a stat stick). but some folks love dual swords. I didn't much care for sword personally, but just an opinion. Tonfa is my current favorite, but the learning curve is high cause leader of the ten braves rewards A agility, so I'm not quite so used to being this squishy yet.

Or if you want to transcend into godhood, just start collecting Intentions of a Gallant Warrior set and build for LW lol.

Also, don't be afraid to check youtube for builds.
If you like swords, check this build out:

How could you say this!? My long ears tattooee primary and one-eyed floating secondary disagree with this.
LOL i think Kato is the general concensus best. unless you have a specified build that would benefit more from something else, such as knife-chucking builds benefit from the bonus to ninjutsu from the rabbit or the non-LW mad spinner build benefits more from kara-jishi

For general use, Kato is considered the best. Great Ki recovery - which every build can benefit from, 23% Skill Damage is insanely beneficial for very nearly every build, and a very quick recovery time for Living Weapon (seriously, goint from Nine-tails to Kato was a revelation) makes him good even for LW builds.

If only he had a better GS summon, then I'd call him my bestie.
Yeah, Kato GS spirit summon (moment talisman) is pretty useless. The only real use I can think of for it is if you use a build that benefits from enemies being scorched. But even stuff, burning oil jars would do the job better.. only downside with those is they're a pain to farm and you only get 5
^ I use the GS in conjuction with Gale Shot to confuse some of the bosses you and I fight. It's useful for Shigepede, and the few times I can pull it off on Otani are handy. But overall? Yeah, fairly useless.

If Kato had something half as awesome as Nine-tails I'd be happy. Even matching Paired Raiken would be wonderful.
