Look for complementary build elements. For example, the equipment set Izanagi's Grace has an Increase Attack on Recovery bonus, which mean that when you restore health, you get a pretty impressive attack buff. Pair this with Izanami's Grace, which restores your health when you are in a Yokai Realm, and all of a sudden you're excited to see the little shadow-circles near every boss drops with regularitly.
Another possibility is to have a Bonus on Absorbing Amrita (Auto-Recovery) (which you can also pair with an Extraction Talisman, which will have every blow you land give you Amrita), and you will virtually always be healing and have an impressive attack bonus.
You can also use the god of War looks down set to get elemental damage reduction (EDR), reforge EDR onto the chest piece, and get accessories with EDR. You can actually stack this effect enough to get 100% EDR.
- 100% Elemental Reduction when guarding (as @puzzlefox said)
- Zero Ki Bonus Attack Damage (Dont use Attack Damage Surge, it is useless). This one is on your Joi
- Zero Ki Bonus Ki Recovery (on boot)
- Bonus after purification Nullify Damage
- Bonus after status ailment suffered : Movement speed
* stacking Received Firearms Damage (RFD) to / over 100%
(assuming Yasakani or any other accessory with 'set bonus requirements down')
2 pieces of Hiraishi (Dragon God's Sacred Treasure)
1 piece of Tatenashi (The God of War looks Down)
1 accessory with RFD (max is 9.9% AFAIK, but max isn't need)
Head, torco and one other piece of armor (through inhertable slot) with RFD
(max is 10.9% at 0 familiarity)
* stacking both, EDR and RFD to / over 100%
(assuming Yasakani or any other accessory with 'set bonus requirements down')
4 pieces of Tatenashi
torso with Received Elemental Attack Damage (16.9% @ 0 Familiarity)
any 4 armor pieces with RFD
both accessories with EDR and RFD (very rare)
or replace one instance of EDR with clan - Otani.
Random:
* when reforging / temper already equipped piece of armor, remember to re-equip it for new effects to take place. The game does not immediately recalculate some new effects.
For example, if you're trying to get Agility A and apply through reforging / temper weight reduction 14.9% to your currently equipped Head armor, let's take Hiraishi - weight is 6.7 - the weight does not change to 5.7 and isn't recalculated in your character's status either. Going into mission though will recalculate.
* If you use equipment sets, changing to different set works even when your equipment is stored in your Storehouse.
* Equipment sets are greate time savers when you respec to change just few of your stats. Loading equipment set after respec will take care of your shortcuts - no need to visti shrine for Ready Jutsu.
Does this even work if you are already at full health? Always thought it only worked when actually regenerating missing health and ignored it.
Does having over 100% grant any advantage? Or should I just make sure to have at least 100%?
Thanks again guys, really appreciate all the information!
(plus my habit from Diablo days where mobs had means to lower your resistances, so stacking over was the way to go, but that's unimportant in this game)
*imperative strike - does more dmg than sneack attack; useful against enemies that does multi-hit combo - just stand back and time it properly to greet them with powerful blow.
*devastating rush - useful against human enemies that like to block attacks too much
*moonlit snow - useful against enemies with long stagger duration(wheelmonk, some bosses - especially those out of KI)
*best synergy with Flux skill, since many combos will put you into another stance....
---
On different note - I was just experimenting with ninjutstu and groundfire trap and it seems to have really good effect on human enemies - throwing them on the ground and setting aflames. If you ever got stuck on some 1-1 or 1-2 duel....
To add to that: moonlit snow can be used in LW for obnoxious damage as well. It kills big yokai stupidly fast
a little bit weird but not really surprising in Nioh, is the fact u can put "long range dmg for cannon" or "short range dmg for cannon" ability on bow - so you can pair and distributed short and range dmg on two range weapons. When you use the cannon u benefits of both.
CU
I'll try that. I am so far in the game now but still I didnt know which skills can be used during LW.
And to add something more about odachi:
*Crashing waves - can quickly deplete KI of human-type enemies. Just do it 2-3x in a row and then follow with final blow. It's also the easiest way to finish Odachi Dojo mission.
Notable odachi non-set items are: Hotaromaru, Mijinmaru, Monohoshizao
Be sure to hit those 0 ki KO'd enemies with an imperative strike before doing the finishing blow for about twice the dmg ;)
